Commercial Description:
A Russian Imperial Stout with a hearty malt body and bold hop flavor.
Named after the infamous "Blackout of 2003" that left the northeastern United States in complete darkness, but resulted in old-fashioned neighborhood porch parties and fun.
Available in February & March.

Body is black as night, no head. Aroma of black licorice, slight notes of chocolate, strong mocha flavor. Malty mocha/coffee body, light notes of dark fruit (mostly black licorice). Hoppy finish, well-balanced. Slightly sweet finish. Well hidden abv, a not too dry of a finish in my opinion, perhaps a bit thin overall, not as robust as some of the great imperials. Still a good stout, nice fruit elements and sweetness to add to the malt flavor.

12 oz bottle, thanks to Tidiaguy (you are a God Mike). Black, opaque, tannish small head. Mostly roasty nose, big chewy gouts of espresso. Very vinous, full of bitter chocolate on the tongue, hops and roasty coffee linger through the end, anise and a bit of alcohol nicely present but not dominating. Well-done if unspectacular Imperial.

Poured a jet black with small tan bubbly head. Aroma of chocolate and coffee. Roasted chocolate malt and coffee taste. Also some smoke in the finish. Very good stuff.

I almost hate to open this bottle of rarity, but here goes.Jet black color, small tan head that faded quickly to leave a nice lace behind. The aroma was malty and chocolatey, light coffee with a nice toffee hint and some what sweet, faint fruit presence and mild hops with just a faint hint of alcohol as well.Big coffee and chocolate flavor with a nice hop bitterness and mild alcohol. As it warms there is a slight detection of fruit but as to what kind escapes me.The hops come through quite well with a nice bitterness at the tail end. This is a very nice brew and the alcohol manages to stay fairly well hidden.Making this a very nice brew that came in a trade. Thanks go to Drew for sending this nice rarity my way.

Black with a big brown, long lasting, head. Aroma of coffee, roast and wood. Flavor of coffee, dark chocolate, licorice, and hops. The bitter coffee flavor is a little too strong and makes it hard to drink.

Black pour with a thin tan head. Rich heavy aroma. Smooth mouthfeel. Bitter Chocolate flavor. Very nice. 8/4/8/4/18

RERATE: Black pour with only a tan ring. Aroma is black licorice and chocolate and alcohol. Flavor is rich and chocolatey with very manageable alcohol. Deliciously smooth.

Bottle, thanks Kevin! Pours oily black, thin brown lacing. Aroma is astringent alcohol in a good way, vanilla, creme, soft roastiness. Taste is molassis, licorice, roasted malt. Nice lingering alcohol and light hops in the finish. Body is oily, thick, yet not cloying. Very nice stuff.

On tap at the pub. Black beer with a whipped foam creamy head that left walls of lace on the glass. Raisin, molasses and brown sugar with hints of sweet coffee. Very creamy mouthfeel and too easy to drink. Strong hop bitterness in the finish. I would not have identified this as an imperial stout but it is a very tastey beer.
