Pours a deep dark brown, almost black, with a large diminishing dark tan head. Wonderful aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and hops. Flavour’s just as good: nice and roasty with malt, coffee, lots of chocolate and hops with a touch of alcohol. Great body, it’s nice and chewy. Incredibly easy to drink for an Imperial Stout, I loved it. MrBunn (1566), Western, Pennsylvania, USA

Flavor is robust and outstanding... heavy chocolate and dark malt flavors mix with dome dark fruit (prune) and a bit of molasses... all of this has a nice thickness to it and a slightly sweet sticky character. Very impressive. Papsoe (15178), Frederiksberg, Denmark

Aroma of roasted malt and chocolate. Very full body, sweetish roasted malt with roasted, coffeeish accents and some chocolate. Light, bitter finish and very pleasant overall. Thanks heaps to Yogi_Beera and pivo for bringing this. 170406 drpimento (883), La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 13, 2005 Upon the initial pour a chocolaty sweetness aroma is evident and quickly gives way to a mild roastedness. The color is a deep rich chocolaty black and the head is a creamy thick than. The head is long lasting and has some lacing. There is a malty sweetness at the start and finishes with a coffee like flavor. The beer is almost full bodied but not quite. Tubbfan (144), Joliet, Illinois, USA

My only complaint about this one is the lack of any lasting head (although this may be due to the fact that I rinsed my glass before pouring this one). Beige colored head while it lasted. Pours a completely opaque, deep, almost black, dark brown. Smell and flavor is rather complex consisting of coffee, malt, smoke, molasses and milk chocolate (adding a bit of sweetness). Mouthfeel is creamy with a definite alcohol aftertaste. I want to keep drinking this one to see if its real. sandwichpants (117), Royal Oak, Michigan, USA

I can see through the beer when I pour it, so it’s not one of those "motor oil" stouts. Lots of sprucey hops and all kinds of roasty and sweet malt flavous. It’s less strong in flavour and body, but has all of the other characters of an imperial stout, so it becomes a bit more drinkable and delicate, rather than beligerant and powerful. Quite good, I look forward to somehow scoring a barrel aged version in the future! porterhouse (1166), Alna, Maine, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 5, 2006 (Bottle (best by 8/10/06), gift from <A HREF=http://www.ratebeer.com/ViewUser.asp?UserID=2 target=blank>OhioDad, thanks Scott!) This pours very dark, virtually black, opaque. Has a quarter-inch of tan head that melts away to a thin layer. Fine weepy lacing adorns glass. Aromas of prunes, raisins, coffee and vanilla. Mouthfeel smooth, lightly oily. Flavor of rich bitter coffee and a bit of chocolate. Very mild alcohol burn. A good-tasting Imp Stout although doesn’t show terrific complexity. Good marks for aroma and palate.
