A deep, dark, nearly pitch block body sits beneath a creamy thin beige head. The smell is very complex, with espresso, chocolate, cake batter, dark fruits, rum, and molasses. The flavor is brutally potent. The alcohol is very prominent at first, but melds into a straight grainy ass espresso shot. Hints of cocoa, bittersweet chocolate, prunes, dates, and sweet oranges. I like this stout, but I think it’s a bit young for my tastes. Just needs some time to mellow out..

Aroma: Big dark malt with coffee and chocolate aromas.
Appearance: Dark Black in color, clear with a thin head.
Flavor: Big flavor this was a strong stout had a great chocolate and velvet flavoring.
Palate: Nice Finish, with a Good Mouthfeel.
Overall: A very nice Impy Stout.

Jun 29, 2009 Opaque black in color with a nice head that lasts throughout. Smells of chocolate and rich roasted coffee and a very rich malt background. Oily mouthfeel. Deep rich chocolate with bitter roasted malts make this beer fairly complex with other flavors of toffee, figs, raisins, and maybe a hint of vanilla. Has a nice warming effect.

Jun 15, 2009 Pours a near black brown with thin tan head that sticks around for a little while, minimal lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, decent hops, and a bit of chocolate. Flavor is similar with the addition of caramel, slight sweetness, and a bit of dried fruit. A bit warm, not sure if it needs to age and mellow or if that is how it will stay. Very solid otherwise.

Jun 11, 2009 Pours black as coal with a medium tan head. Chocolate, coffee and brown sugar; taste is the same. Very creamy and smooth; extrememly drinkable for the style. Very nice. Another winner from Great Lakes.

Jun 9, 2009 Bottle. Pours coal black/pitch black with a medium tan head. Aroma is of coffee with a small amount of chocolate and caramel. Flavor is coffee, sweet chocolate, and a hint of alcohol. Best Imperial Stout I’ve ever had, very drinkable and smooth for this style, and for any beer with a 9% ABV for that matter. Would reccommend to anyone.

Jun 9, 2009 Draft@DiMarco’s, Uniontown, PA->honker. Pours a off-white head atop a black body. Chocolate aroma and taste. Very enjoyable, however it is a little thick on the palate. I’d say pretty middle of the road for this class of beer.

Jun 8, 2009 12oz bottle. Opaque pitch black. Very smooth, mellow, and roasty. Some coffee in the aroma. Easy drinking for the style, very creamy, almost lactic. I like this one because its no nonsense, no syrupy overly cocoa..none of that. Classic Imp Stout. Well done.

Jun 4, 2009 pours pitch black with small tan head. aroma is coffee, toffee and lots of chocolate. drinks with tons of semisweet chocolate and mild coffee. has a nice rich toffee sweetness bringing up the back end. finishes light on the tongue but leaves great chocolate flavor.
