A Russian Imperial Stout with a hearty malt body and bold hop flavor.
Named after the infamous "Blackout of 2003" that left the northeastern United States in complete darkness, but resulted in old-fashioned neighborhood porch parties and fun.
Available in February & March.

Poured very dark and deep cherry in my pint glass. The nose hits you as you pour the beer of very deep rich chocolate and toffee notes. The head is very nice for a stout. Little lacing throughout the pint. Coffee notes and chocolate come through the taste and of course heavy roasted malts shine through. A little on the thin side with a char finish’s the palate. The color is respected of its name ’Blackout Stout’. HIghly recommend to all Stout lovers. This is top notch!

Tap @ Sienna Mercato rooftop. Very dark with dissipating tan head. Smells like raisin bread. Chocolaty flavor. Smooth but still dry.

Bottle. Deep roasted stout with lots of hop zing and malt sweetness. Perhaps a little too cloying. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Deep black body with lumpy khaki head. Foam recedes rather quickly to a thin film. Wonderful roasty aroma of coffee and milk chocolate. Taste has hints of caramel sweetness, bitter cocoa nibs, blackberries, and roasted malts. Moderate bitters on the back end that progresses into a nice warmth. Full flavor, medium body and very palatable considering the ABV.

A dark brown color with finger of khaki head that settles on the surface. Smells of raisin, plum, grape, fig, some roasted coffee. Taste is chocolate grape, raisin, sweet coffee, some roastiness, ash. Very little hop bitter. An overall chocolate maltiness with various dark fruits. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

APPEARANCE – pitch black… like its namesake. NOSE – not a lot going on here. FLAVOR – deep roasty malt flavors. Just enough bitterness. NOTES – perhaps the definition of straight up imperial stouts. Delish!

Heavy, thick mouthfeel with coffee-ish notes and a thick, creamy coffee flavor. Solid, but heavy drink.

On tap @ Radio Maria, as part of a flight of imperial stouts. This was a standout. Rich and chocolatey, underlying dark fruits, medium sweetness, roasty bitterness. Nicely balanced.

Bottle to pint glass. Aroma is sweet chocolate and BlackBerry, maybe cherry also. Touch of toasted barley. Appearance: Dark black color, small head. Looks almost a little thin. Taste: dark fruits, plum, fig, BlackBerry. Very tasty and sweet. Feel: flat. Only negative here is that it needs some carbonation. A very nice beer. Sad to see the Edmund Fitzgerald replaced as my favorite Great Lakes Beer.
