2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 7/20
Brown bubble head that stays a few mins or less and then is completely gone like it was not there. Completly black so a really good looking beer. Little carbination at bottom I can see. Smell isthe barrel, the burbon and chocolate. Taste is chocolate, the barrel, the burbon and a bit spicy/smokey. 1st sip tatsed like it was cut with cola. So medium bodied but feels like it should be heaviy and more stronger in flavours. It’s allright but a little let down by it.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
750ml bottle from the LCBO. Bought this because of the RB newsletter saying this was an up and coming beer...wasn’t expecting much however once it warmed up to room temperature it opened up and what a surprise. Dark dark brown with a nice mocha head that fades to a small ring around the glass. Espresso, bittersweet chocolate mixed with some chocolate pudding, rye bread dipped in aged balsamic vinegar, some booze but not as bourbon forward as some beers I quite enjoy but have to say very well balanced. Full body (if you drink this too cold it will seem thin - let it warm up in a glass to room temperature or at least close to it) with mild carbonation, coats the palate, somewhat bitter, bit of celery, some oak, vanilla and booze; becomes a little dry with a viscous covering in your mouth. This beer makes me want to go back and try the rest of the 25th anniversary beers - and also makes me glad I bought 6 of these and to be honest may go back and get more even at $15 a pop. Highly recommend that people in Ontario go and buy this beer.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Lots of dark chocolate and some coffee. Pours black with some mocha head, no lacing. Smoked malt aroma. Also some booze in there. Bitter finish. Low carbonation (cask). Thick consistency. On tap at volos - not sure I would pay the $14 for a bottle of this, but it’s decent.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
750 ml bottle from LCBO. Pours an opaque virtually black with lasting, rich brown head. Aroma is full of barrell with lots of dark chocolate, roasty coffee and some warm alcohol. Flavour is rich chocolatey malt, espresso, bourbon, vanilla and some hints of brown sugar. Mouthfeel is fairly silky; medium-full body. Impressive in every respect.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours black with an initial dark tan head.
Little lacing. Nose is vanilla with maybe some espresso and bitter
chocolate. Aromas are bitter chocolate, roasted malt, espresso,
vanilla . Tastes are heavy sweet with medium bitterness to the finish.
Oily in the mouth with light-medium carbonation. Alcohol is present,
but well integrated. Top notch.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
750mL bottle from LCBO, purchased despite the $15 price tag. Pours opaque black with brown head. Aroma is roasty, chocolate, vanilla, bourbon, and even a little cherry. Taste is chocolate, vanilla, brown sugar, with a roasty bitter finish with some alcohol in it - imperial stout perfection. Medium-full body with medium carbonation. Another winner from GLB - I really wish these 25th Anniversary series beers were always available!

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
750 mL bottle from the brewery. Pours black with a beautiful brown head. Abaout as dark as a head can get, I think. Laces nicely too. Lots of malt notes in the aroma: coffee, nuts, chocolate chips, and bread. Some booze in there too, and bourbon barrel. Lots going on in the flavour as well, with bittersweet chocolate, roast, coffee, booze. Only disappointment is that the body doesn’t seem as full as it could be. (Or maybe I’m subconsciously comparing it to the He’brew Sweet 16 I had yesterday.) Great beer though.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Beautiful smelling, the bourbon barrel comes through very strong on the nose. A bit of chocolatey malt to back up the bourbon. Completely black, with a quickly dissipating thin dark head. On sipping this beer, get bourbon upfront, chocolatey malts in the middle and more of the bourbon/vanilla with some alcohol heat in the finish. Finish is quite long. Carbonation not too extreme and mouthfeel a bit thin-- my biggest complaint about this one. Otherwise very good and assertive BA imp stout.

4.9 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
I was told about this beer a few weeks ago, and I had to try it. I have never tried a Russian Imperial Stout before, so this was going to be a adventure for me.
The beer pours an opaque black, with a thin dark brown head. The aroma is rich dark and complex, with notes of coffee, caramel, toffee, rich roasted malts, and some bourbon.
The taste blew me away, this is not beer! This is magic! A rich velvety blanket of bitter-sweet dark chocolate, coffee, chewy toffee, plum, and figs. The sweet bourbon was a little subdued, but as the beer warmed up it began to shine through.
This beer is something else, I picked up a few more and I am going to let them age. I have little experience with Imperial Stouts, but I am quite sure that this will be hard to beat for quite some time!
