4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours BLACK with a nice beige pillowy head. Immediate aroma of a damp evergreen forest rounded out by roasted coffee beans and citrusy hops. Big hop taste, but not a one-trick pony by any means. Lots of nice malt flavours, roast coffee and dark chocolate notes and resinous pine. The 100 IBUs doesn’t really show up until an astringent bitter alcohol aftertaste which lingers for quite some time. A very nice beer and a good way to celebrate 25 years!

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
750 mL bottle. Lovely pour. There are more hops in the head than there are in a skid of Coors Light. Lots of hop flavour and aroma. Not too sweet. Body thins out at the end - needs more caramalt or something. Booze is completely hidden by the bitterness.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
750mL bottle, from LCBO (hidden in the back room - by request only?). Pours nearly opaque black, with a thin tan head. Terrific citrus fruit hoppy aroma, with some smooth chocolate in there too. Taste is hoppy bitter, with brown sugar, tropical fruit, chocolate and coffee. Some black IPAs are a mess, but this one blends the fruity hops with the dark malts perfectly. Even my usually-picky wife loved this one. A definite winner. If GLB would brew stuff like this as their "regulars", they could be right up there with the great American craft breweries.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Awesome top to bottom. Pours cola black with an initial big foamy tan head that fades to a nice light covering. Lacing is looooong. Nose is pine and some roasted notes. Aromas are big hops... Pine, some grapefruit. Also some burnt toast and maybe a hint of spice back there. Tastes are huge bitter hops and light sweet. Medium body in mouth with lively carbonation. Stellar.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
750 ml bottle from LCBO. Pours a dark brown/black with good-sized light brown head with lots of retention. Aroma is big green, grapefruity hops that almost have a little spiciness to them and roasted coffee-ish/chocolate-ish malt. Flavour is also very hoppy with a solid roasty malt backbone. Alcohol is quite hidden (until you’ve had a whole bottle). Medium plus body. Very good.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Aroma is citrus, resin, roasty, chocolate. Dark, viscous appearance. Complex flavor, malty upfront, bitter hops, sweet, then bitter lingering on the palate. Medium to heavy bodied but not syrupy. Good American style black IPA.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
2012-11-08. Black body, nice tan head and lace. Pleasantly hoppy, leafy green hop character. 7++ Flavour is similar, nice bitterness throughout, green leafy hops, nice malty core. 7++ Average plus bodied palate. Less complex than the Puzzler was earlier, but richer and dangerously drinkable. Lovely stuff. On tap at Project X at Wvrst, Toronto

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dark black pour with a tight dark head. The aroma is quite spicy and peppery. More chocolate and less resin than the Puzzler. A touch of spiciness. Pretty nice as well.
