Vary dark bubbly highly carbonated pour with a dark tan head. Very strong coffee scent. Smells wonderful. Wow that is fantastic. Thick rich and flavourful. Lots of coffee a touch of caramel and a vanilla finish. No booziness. Best beer I have had tonight. My only complaint is that my wife ordered this one and not me.

UPDATED: JAN 14, 2013 Alcohol, coffee and roasty dark malt converge in this black monster. 750ml pours a good frothy dark head. Aroma is a bit muted, sweet fruit and dark malts. Catching some vanilla on the long, dry, roasty-acrid-alcohol finish. Grassy hop. Coffee flavor is very good. Palate is a bit undecided - thankfully not sticky with malt, but also not very creamy and therefore a touch thin - not quite Péché in the feel. I do like the effort, and will return to the bottle for any further notes. Thanks GLB! - rerate - cooling and resting the bottle produces a silkier palate, hiding the bold alcohol a tiny bit and improving overall by one tick.

Draught at ’Project X’ at Wvrst, Nov. 8. Pours black with a nice average size long-lasting creamy light-brown head. Aroma has lots of chocolate backed by roasted malt and vanilla -- but it’s mostly chocolate. Flavour is super chocolaty along with roasted malt and vanilla. Medium bodied. Creamy mouthfeel. Sweet but excellent.

Sample from bottle at the Only Fall Beer Festival. Pours a very dark brown with modest-sized light brown head. Aroma is robust vanilla and coffee with a little cocoa. Taste is a lovely balance of big, sweet vanilla and roasty coffee with some cocoa. Big body. This was great.

2012-10-31. Black body with a small tan head. 3+ Aroma is less assertive than expected but has a good amount of vanilla and dry espresso roast. 7+ Flavour is similar, vanilla and modest dry roast up front, sweet malt middle with more vanilla in the finish and aftertaste. 7+ Smooth average plus to medium body. 3+ Pretty solid. On tap at Bar Hop, Toronto

On tap at WVRST tap takeover. Expresso was there, but the vanilla bean dominates the taste as it has for other beers they have used vanilla beans. Makes a milk like taste and candy smooth mouthfeel. I appreciate both, but find it very sweet though not cloying. , I actually would have liked a little more bitterness or roasting in there. Coffee with cream aroma.
