Another great beer from GL - so wish they made more of these... Dense malty body with full roast flavour and bitterness. Could be a stout from any other local brewery.

Bottle about 8 months old, with Sprague11. Bourbon has lightened, but starts to come through as it warms. Fair bit of oak on the nose, brown sugar, light mocha notes, low carbonation leads to a syrupy mouthfeel. Some nice warming heat at the finish

Black pour, small head. Aroma of bourbon, sweetened coffee. Bourbon barrel complements but does not overpower the taste of coffee, vanilla, dark toffee and cocoa powder. Aged 8 months. Peters bottle

July 6, 2012 - with blankboy, gregclow, jercraigs & mabel. 750ml bottle c/o j&m. Aged in Buffalo Trace barrels. Ruby/brown/black pour with a smallish frothy tan/light brown head (4-). Aroma is floral, chocolate, more than a little sweet bourbon and oak, some alcohol. Taste - Play-Doh and plasticine but in a good way - sweet, deeply roasty, sneaky boozy, really nicely balanced, the bourbon doesn’t make too many demands ----- smooooooth. Slick, average body, mild carbonation, a weirdly sweet and herbal finish, the oak and bourbon fade fairly quickly.

On Tap at Beer Bistro. Pours dark brown black with a small dark brown head. Aroma of chocolate, vanilla and dark malt. The barrels really shine through on this brew. medium bitterness. Love the barrel aging.

Tap, pours a nice pitch black, aroma is very strong of bourbon a bit roasty, the flavour is very strong on the bourbon as well, a nice roasty coco body, finish with a heavy boozy feel. But really complex overall and really nice offering, better as warms

toffsbury (104) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 28, 2012
One of my favourite beers. Aroma is rich and sweet, with caramel, coffee, bourbon and chocolate. The colour is a perfect midnight black, completely opaque, with quite a decent head. Flavour is seriously intense... Sweet with a bare hint of bitter, bourbon, roasted coffee and candy apple chocolate. Of you just leave it sitting on your tongue for five minutes it tastes like you’re sipping on coffee - not coffee aftertaste, but actual coffee. I wish they’d put this in the LCBO. I had to call repeatedly and then bike to the brewery to buy it.

Bottle courtesy of toffsbury. Pours completely opaque black, with a tan head. Aroma of bourbon, vanilla, and roasted malt. Taste is great! Marshmallowy roasty goodness. Great big body. This is very good stuff.

(Draught sample at Bryden’s, Toronto, Sept 21 2012) Pours black with a cream-coloured head that disippated quickly with strong lacing. Aroma barrel-dominated, bourbon, woody vanilla and alcohol. Bit of cocoa and roast in behind. Flavour again bourbon and vanilla dominated, a bit more chocolate and toffee character comes through from the porter. Somewhat sweet but not overpoweringly so, faint drying from roast and hops on the finish. Body is fairly full with creamy carbonation and well-hidden alcohol heat. This beer comes across as whiskey with a beer hiding, but it smells and tastes great and is easy to drink.

Bottle [750ml] shared with HogTownHarry, tupalev, GregClow, jerc & mabel -- c/o j&m. Pours a very dark ruby-brown with an average size frothy light-brown head. Aroma is quite sweet and barrel-aged, with vanilla, bourbon, alcohol, chocolate and light leafy hops -- a little to B.-A.’ed for me. Flavour is malty and sugary sweet along with bourbon, dark fruit, chocolate and coffee. Average to medium bodied. Really good but I prefer the original as the barrel-aging is a bit too much.
