4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Bomber from LCBO. Appearance: Pitch black, huge thick mocha head. Aroma: deep coffee, dark chocolate, leather, cream, wood, a hint of alcohol, raspberry. Flavour: Creamy mouthfeel, lovely and smoky, chocolate and rich espresso, wood, leather and an Irish cream like flavour running through it, dark berry finish. Just wonderful. Delicious.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Single from the LCBO with a wax-covered cap, leaking-dry on the side of the neck. Pours a real dark brown colour with hardly any red highlights. Beautiful light brown coloured head, great retention and creamy thick lacing. Burnt malt scent with dark fruits (plums, raisins, dates) and notes of coffee, chocolate, nuts and biscuits. Quite smooth mouthfeel with no burning at all and medium-bodied. The taste is milder, as in well-balanced with pretty much all that is found in the nose. Decent hop flavours as well in the finish creating some nice bitterness with the roasted malts in the afteratste. This is quite a good porter with loads of aromas and tastes that goes down nicely. Hope they do this one again at one point.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
In short: A solid roasted black ale. Simple and pleasant.
How: Bottle 750ml, consumed some 6+ months after I received the bottle from blankboy, thanks a lot Paul.
The look: Black body topped by a medium tan head.
In long: Nose is roasted, somewhat chocolaty, a hint of smoke, light notes black liquorice. Taste is indeed robust, well malted, highly roasted, chocolate cake icing, almonds, distant coffee, pleasant herbal hops, a certain spiciness (star anise). Very active carbonation, maybe a tiny bit overcarbonated. Rather dry at first with the roast and all with a certain creamy chocolaty sweetness in the after-taste. Nothing original here, itís a roasted porter, but it gets the little things right. Quite enjoyable. Rating #5700 for my me, an achievement, and if I had a dollar for every time someone told me I should be proud of all my achievements I would have exactly one dollar, thanks mom!

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours an almost opaque black with big creamy light brown head that leaves good amounts of sticky lace up the glass and seems to settle . Aroma consists of roasted malts, some dark chocolate, and slightly earthy. Flavour is roasted malts just short of being burnt, dry coffee, dark chocolate and a mix of mild hop/dark malt bitterness. Tasty beer.

Thanks to cfrancis for this one. Pours an opaque black with a big frothy brown head on top. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, cocoa and a bit of dark dried fruit. Taste is chocolate, roasted malts, coffee and a nice smooth bitterness on the finish. No detection of alcohol on this one but definitely a full bodied big beer, excellent to drink after dinner.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
750 mL bottle at a tasting at Danís, served in a stem glass. Pours mahogany with a moderate tan head that remains and leaves a moderate amount of fine lace. The nose has dry roasty malts with a touch of smoke and herby, earthy hops. The flavour is more of the same, but with added roast coffee and charred malts, with perhaps a touch of oats. On the palate it is medium-full in body with a dry texture and soft carbonation. Overall, this is a decent strong porter, very dry and smokey. 2012-08-11

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
(750ml bottle from the LCBO) Pours black with a little mahogany around the rim and a big dark head of bubbles that faded without lace. Aroma chocolate malt, toffee, medium roast, leather, blackberry?. Flavour slightly sweetish chocolate malts, roast, lactose sourness, vanilla, smoke, greenish hops. Finishes dry, roast coffee, some hop bitterness, ash, bit of alcohol. Balance between sweetness and ash and hops is good. This is quite full and creamy and silky for a porter, carb slightly heavy but swirled out with ease. This is even better in barrel-aged form, but it is an excellent base beer.

750ml Bottle - ALL MINE!!!! Black pour, not too thick looking, huge lasting frothy/creamy light brown head - gorgeous. Dry nutty floral/herbal aroma, light alcohol - splendid. Taste follows, not as nutty, a bit lactic-sour, a tad more alcohol presence, but not sweet - very classy. Average body, airy, astringent, medium-long bitter/burnt malt finish ----- a very, very nice porter.
