3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
March 12, 2011 - Great Lakes Tap Take-over at Volo. Draught. Thick and murky looking reddish-amber with pretty much zero head (3-). Pungent floral / acidic aroma, like very green fruit - some alcohol. Taste a bit like play-doh, with alcohol and wildflowers, a little background light grain. Itís thick, still, ,with a weird building/cloying vanilla presence overwhelming the palate - didnít dig it.

Pours a murky golden yellow with lots of floaties and a big frothy head. Aroma is lemony, citrus hops and lots of it. Lots of zest. This flows right into the taste with almost a sorachi hop with the lemon citrus zest. It puckers but itís fantastic. Would easily drink more. Thanks to jerc for this!

Sampled at Volo GLB tasting. Pours cloudy orange-copper with an off white head that dissipated quickly. Aroma is full on hops, pinr, resin, some mild fruit. Taste is big floral hops with a decent caramel malt back. Finishes bitter, fruity, well balanced. Excellent.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Cask at The Victory Cafť. Fresh cask, first pint out of it! Pours a murky orange-copper with an average size semi-lasting frothy white head. Hoppy aroma, mainly just hops to be specific, piney, resiny, floral and fruity with pale malt way in the back. Flavour has lots of leafy green hops along with fruit and pale malt, really nice and tasty. Average bitter finish. Average to medium bodied. Another wonderful hoppy cask beer from Great Lakes, these guys are on a roll!

[3640-20110312] Tap. Odd celery-like hops aroma with a tinge of evergreen tips. Slightly hazy, orange body with a quick foamy white head. Bitter creamy evergreen hops flavour. Medium-full body is fairly bitter. Lovely bitterness throughout, nice balance, very drinkable. (7/3/8+/4/16) 3.8

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
2011-03-11. Murky orange bodied palate, small white head. 3+ Sweet floral hop character, orange citrus, flower blossoms. 6+ Flavour is similar, orange citrus, floral overtones, modest bitterness throughout, modest pale malt. Average bodied palate. This is a nice well made beer but I find the hop profile a bit befuddling personally, and I think how much you like that hop character is going to determine if you love this or just like it. On tap at Volo - came a cloudy, creamed honey colour with a thick, frothy white head. Aroma of tropical fruit and citrus - mango, lemon, apricot, passionfruit, all owing to the Sorachi Ace hops used in the brew. Flavour is similar; juicy, fruity, some bitterness, but not tongue-bruising, pretty balanced with the sweet/creamy malt body, actually. Some small sense of butterscotch (diacetyl?), perhaps rushed to keg. Lovely, very drinkable pint, would not hesitate to order again (if they brew it again!). Great Lakes, you continue to impress.
