3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
500mL can, sent from wilco (thanks Mike), pours black with a big foamy tan head. Aroma of butterscotch, roasted malts, and floral and citrus hops. Flavour is wonderful, bringing out a delicate balance between malts and hops - the malt coming across as a bit butterscotch-like with a bit of roast, crossed with scorching citrus hops. There’s a bit of caramel malt and chocolate in there to match the hop blast. Finishes on notes of caramel / butterscotch and citrus hops. Excellent black IPA.

Fresh guest tap at Indie alehouse. Black as night, a little retained head, with lace left behind. The aroma is the Cascade hops. The taste gives more finish to the roasted malt. A big beer, with hops hops hops. Palate erasing on.

On tap at Volo
Aroma fragrant, aromatic nose , high alpha hop, solid malt base. Pleasant blend with good feel dark vibe behind. 8-
Appearance dark brown with medium beige cap. 3+
Flavor and Palate : Frontal attack with high alpha acid hop feel. Tart fruit as backing , dark malts right behind. Proper heft , mid bodied , smooth and clean. Perhaps still bit young , tad too much heat at finish.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Probably my favourite beer in Ontario. If Barhop didn’t have such a great list of beers on right now, I’d have drank so much of this I’d be falling out of my chair by the end of the night.
This is a HUGE beer. Pour is dark with a tan head, very much like a coffee porter or similar. Went in blind to this beer assuming it would be more like a double ipa so was shocked when it arrived.
Aroma gives the impression that this is going to be a hop bomb, with large notes of resiny pine and citrus. The roasted malt is apparent but undertoned, much to my liking. Almost a bit of dark fruit comes through in the end, further adding to the malt balance.
Taste was very balanced, the sweetness and bitterness from the hops arrives first followed by the malty backbone, allowing for a very balanced taste. The alcohol provides a bit of warmth but is otherwise well hidden. The balance of this beer provides for a very ’full’ effect, no thinness in the mouth. You don’t feel cheated drinking this beer, that’s for sure.
Would buy again.

Pours dark with thick head. Very hoppy with tones of citrus. The 10% is very noticeable but blend in very nicely with the hoppy goodness!

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Can from the brewery in a tulip. Pours a deep brown-black with a good amount of foamy tan head that dissipates quickly. Smell is like sticking a pine branch in a campfire. Lots of pine/resin hops and an undertone of roasted malt. Palate is medium bodied with not a whole lot of carbonation. Taste is a bit sweet at first but then builds towards a quite a bitter note, hitting roasted along the way. The aftertaste is very long lasting, bitter, and has some good alcohol warming in the back of my throat. Glad I got more than 1 can.
