Tap at Volo. The beer is dark brown with a tight sticky head. The aroma is awesome. Fresh citrus/grapefruit hops over a bit of black licorice and light chocolate. The body is moderate but there is also a little bit of soft richness that is hard to describe. It’s not sweet, but it’s quite unctuous on the palate and there’s a great balance of malt and rich hops. Lots of hop character but the malts definitely play more than a backing role here. There is a grapefruit and dank character in addition to a kiss of cocoa. It works really well for me - solid stuff.

Draught at Volo, April 20. Pours dark brown with a small frothy off-white head -- almost oily-looking. Aroma has lots of leafy and citrusy hops, roasted malt, a touch of mint and a hint of alcohol. Flavour follows the aroma, with leafy and citrusy hops, lightly roasted malt and a big bitter finish. Average to medium bodied. Pretty good.

[4224-20111231] Tap. Spruce evergreen hops aroma has a string hint of maple. Black body with a quick creamy brown head. Bitter hoppy pine resin flavour. Medium-full body. Very tasty. (8/3/8/4/16) 3.9

On tap at Volo. Pours a dark brown colour with small tan head. Aroma is dark roasty malt and big citric hops. Taste is also quite big with rich roasty maltiness and green, citrusy hops. Nice roasty bitter finish. Quite good.

2012-12-31. Black with a large foamy head and nice lacing on the glass. Flavour is quite nice, interesting citrusy/fruity hop character up front, very light dark malt, interesting interplay between the malt and hops, green leafy touches slowly develops as you go. Aroma is hoppy, citrus is elusive and enticing, seductive, mild green leafy character. 8+ Smooth medium bodied palate. Lovely stuff. Tap at Volo, Toronto
