3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
In short: A fruity-grassy blond IPA, clean but yeasty, low on malts, refreshing. Very enjoyable session beer.
How: Bottle 22oz, consumed fresh a few days after receiving the bottle from blankboy, thanks a lot Paul.
The look: Cloudy orange-blond body topped by a persistent small white head.
In long: The moderately hoppy noes has bright fruits (clementines, pineapples) as well as some wet grass, dried yellowed grass and floral notes. Most striking feature of the taste is how timid the malt bill is. Discreet dry wheaty crackers, a slightly sweet fruity flavour akin to breakfast juice (pineapples, clementines, apples). A clean bitterness of medium intensity that adds sun dried yellowed grass and dried countryside field flowers to the citrusy hops. I didn’t get the “Belgian” part of this beer described as a Belgian IPA by the brewery, yes it is yeasty but not particularly Belgian in nature, no more Belgian than any unfiltered yeasty “normal” IPA I’ve had. I usually don’t care much for yeasty IPAs with timid malts but somehow I really enjoyed this one, simple, clean, refreshing, bright, highly sessionnable. Audrey Hopburn, funny name, but if Great Lakes makes a wild ale and doesn’t call it Brett Pitt then I don’t understand their naming convention.

Pours a cloudy golden orange with a large off white head that leaves great lace on the heads. Aroma is grass, spicy Belgian yeast, mild malty sweetness, caramel, and sweet citrus. Flavour is spicy Belgian yeast, citrus, grass, mild-med bitterness, and a dry finish. Not too fancy but really well balanced!

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Thanks to cfrancis for this one. Pours a hazy yellowish gold with a frothy white head and lots of spotty lace on the glass. Aroma of spicy Belgian yeast, grassy hops, peppery phenols and fruity esters all in good balance. Taste is pepper, spicy Belgian yeast, grassy and earthy hops. Really nice balance of hops and malts with really good Belgian qualities. Excellent Belgian ipa.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
poured into a tulip glass
A - pours a cloudy orange colour with a nice thick two finger head. the head has a pretty decent retention and the lacing is excellent by the end of the drink
S - smell is great right off the pour and slightly fades as its exposed to the air longer. nice citrus and floral smell with spices. the fruit smells like grapefruit to me and there is a definite hint of cloves in there.
T - The hops and belgian yeast are very prominent in the taste and i absolutely love the way the taste of the grapefruit mixes with the bitterness of the beer. a great example for me of this style. there is just a great overall distribution of the different aspects in this beer. nothing is too overpowering for me.
M - Its got a light body and great carbonation that stays throughout. one of my favourite parts of this beer is how it feels going down. very smooth and the aftertaste that slightly lingers there makes me licking my lips waiting for the next sip.
O - this is one of the best beers ive tried in general this past summer. will be picking up more as soon as possible. i recommend it to anyone looking for something new or to anyone who loves the IPA styles. great beer from Great Lakes!

Bottle - 650ml. Hazy amber body with a thick, lasting white foamy head. Good hoppy aroma with flowery, orange, and some vanilla hints. Its sharp hoppy taste carries citrusy and herbal notes. Ends with a robust bitter/herbal finish. Good stuff.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a solid gold colour with a thin sticky white cap that leaves behind good lacing. The aroma is honey, burnt sugar, grain, grapefruit, grass, and coves. The flavour is spicey, cloves, grapefruit, yeast, bananas, ends on a mix of citrus and cloves, cloves trail long off into the finish. Good stuff.

Single bomber from the LCBO. Pours a cloudy golden colour with a creamy off-white head that has great retention and foamy lace. Beautiful nose of Belgian Ale yeast well-blended with the fresh grassy hops and hints of spices (cloves, pepper). Medium-bodied, average carbonation with a mild dry finish. The taste is a mix of notes of bananas and grapefruits. The herbal hops offer very nice bitterness. Wow ! What a great brew.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle (650 ml). From TheJester, thanks! Clear golden/amber with a medium slowly diminishing white head that leaves a persistent ring of foam. Medium lacing. Aroma of malt, caramel, Belgian yeast, light citrus and light pine. Taste is slightly to moderately sweet and about the same as aroma with light bitterness and a very light soapy presence. Medium body. Good carbonation. Slightly dry finish. Decent Belgian IPA. A bit heavy for a 6.2% abv beer. Nothing that really stand out.
