tupalev (2605), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 22, 2005 Sampled at Beer Bistro Golden Tap Awards from a bottle. Molasses / soy sauce porter aroma. Black appearance, thick white head. Taste was actually kind of smoky and with roasted hints - is this a porter is disguise? Thin and watery is the major detractor here, but I loved the smoke aspect. Again, pleasantly surprised. MrManning (1634), London, Ontario, Canada Aug 3, 2005 Best I’ve had from these guys. Pours a dark brown body, with a thick and foamy mocha head. In the nose, I get some slight fruit, mild malt and burnt sugar. Taste is slight malt, grainy, some subtle molasses. Finish is watery. I’d like to see some more malt, and little smokeyness to make it a decent canadian bock even. One dimensionality is this beers downfall. Cartoonkhaki (1149), Brantford, Ontario, Canada May 1, 2005 Dark dark amber hue with thin white head. muste aroma nothing special.. not much body it has possibilities but it is not realized... sweet but sugary not too malty... Sammy (3934), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Dec 27, 2004 Another Ontario sweet malty lager.Reasonable dark appearance and large bubbles. Bland taste. Passable drinkable. Thanks for sample Pootz/Pootzboy. Strong carbonation, fizzy, and a twistoff cap subtract from the experience. pootzboy (1037), Hawgville, Ontario, Canada Dec 22, 2004 Updated: May 5, 2006Bottled. Poured a nice garnet color with a better cap than I;ve seen on other GL beers...but the lacing is not great. No nose to speak of slight whiffs of grain over sweet toasty carmel... fizzy mouth feel and a tad watery but....there are all detectable traits of a schwarzbier here....mild , toasty malt detected, some drying from hops in the finish that is joined by a light charred astringency that is understated. The best thing from this brewer and would not be a bad Canadianization of a schwarzbier were it a bit more defined and less fizzy-spritzer qualities. I will look forward to trying this periodically to see if it imporves on tap as it has a lot of potential.
mrkimchee (1414), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Sep 19, 2004 clear copper, small head. toasty malt aroma with some juice and caramel. flavour os watery with a weird tinny taste and faux fruit. not great. jerc (3861), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 8, 2004 Draft. Dark ruby tinged body, moderate off white head. Very slight roasty aroma and something else I didn’t place. Bit bland - the flavours seem very muted - but some slight roasty chocolatey notes do come outat times. This is pretty drinkable actually, if a bit on the watery side in terms of flavour. Radek Kliber (3930), Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), Ontario, Canada Aug 8, 2004 My beer left nice rings on glass. Appearance of black tea, rather quiet looking beer .Touch of vanilla and sweet toasted malts. Thin bodied, toffee, dark coffee. Thin short finish. Forgettable beer without character.
