Oakes (8058), gone rambling, Vietnam May 27, 2008 Medium brown colour. Rich, thick head. Aroma is mainly metallic with a hint of roast. Light toastiness, fairly watery body, hints of chocolate. Purports to be an American Dark and that’s exactly what it delivers. JoeMcPhee (4893), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Dec 2, 2007 Tap at C’est What? Deep amber beer with a very creamy white head. Fruity aroma of berries and light cherry/plums. Light nutty sweetness. Nutty malts and a lingering fruity finish. Not very lagerish to me. Lubiere (4463), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Feb 5, 2006 Overcarbonated schwarz, dark clear browb, with a quickly collapsing head. Aroma of caramel and plums, not unpleasant. In mouth, rather sweet malt, with some smoked points in final, but rather thin and boring....not impressive, but not bad. Bottle from Mike H. Sammy (3934), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Dec 27, 2004 Another Ontario sweet malty lager.Reasonable dark appearance and large bubbles. Bland taste. Passable drinkable. Thanks for sample Pootz/Pootzboy. Strong carbonation, fizzy, and a twistoff cap subtract from the experience. Radek Kliber (3930), Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), Ontario, Canada Aug 8, 2004 My beer left nice rings on glass. Appearance of black tea, rather quiet looking beer .Touch of vanilla and sweet toasted malts. Thin bodied, toffee, dark coffee. Thin short finish. Forgettable beer without character. HogTownHarry (3922), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada Aug 19, 2006 Updated: Aug 20, 2006Bottle (341ml). At BeerBistro, 2006 Golden Tap Awards. Well it looks okay, bubbly, reddish-black with a small beige head. Sweet candy toasty malt aroma, like weak soda fountain syrup, aggressively sweet, the roast character is quite nonspecific. Taste is like cola, only vaguely roasty, ehhh. Mouthfeel is like a slightly thick cola too - really nothing happening here, it’s just a f’in generic lager tarted up with dark malt, but not really any tastier. jerc (3861), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 8, 2004 Draft. Dark ruby tinged body, moderate off white head. Very slight roasty aroma and something else I didn’t place. Bit bland - the flavours seem very muted - but some slight roasty chocolatey notes do come outat times. This is pretty drinkable actually, if a bit on the watery side in terms of flavour. CapFlu (3480), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Feb 8, 2006 (Bottle) Pours a medium, tan head with a medium carbonated deep brown body. Nose of smoked caramel and porter. Flavours of sweet caramel malt, molasses, roasted almonds and biscuit. Texture is thin and fizzy. Not to my liking...
