Cask days 2013. Pours a murky, pale yellow with a white, ring head. Aroma has notes of sugar, bubblegum, yeast, and a bit of funk. Taste is slightly sweet but not unbalanced. Medium, candy sugary finish. Medium body with a low-medium carbonation. Overall pretty tasty. Enough funk to make it interesting. Great beer. Would get again.

On tap at Volo. Pours a cloudy golden colour with small white head. Aroma has lots of sour fruit, spice and some graininess. Flavour has big apple/pear, citrus, grains and light spice. Some spiciness in finish. Nice.

[Cask at ’Cask Days 2013’.] Beer #16 of the fest. Pours a cloudy orange-copper with a small lasting bubbly white head. Big hoppy aroma along with some tropical fruit, brett and herbs & spices. Really nice flavour, fruity and hoppy first along with yeast and herbs. Average bitter finish. Average bodied. Really good.

Citrus heavy tripel that comes off decent. Had a sip of this a week into detox. Cloudy gold with good head and lacing. Florals are pretty light here, overtaken by citrus. Not much coriander as well. Gets towards a citrusy pale ale with some Belgian yeast. Tap.

Deep golden pour with a thin head. The aroma is great - soft flinty spice and a lovely herbal/floral kick. Bright and fruity with a lots of tropical hop notes. The hops are really well integrated with the Belgian yeast and the minerally Brett really comes through. Delicious.

UPDATED: MAR 5, 2014 2014-02-27. Very lightly hazy yellow body with a small white head and lace. The aroma is lightly funky, lemony hints, notes of citrus peel. The flavour is interesting, fairly bitter, light lemon notes, and light funk throughout. Average bodied palate, soft carbonation. Citrus grows as the glass goes on. Pretty enjoyable, I found it just a touch zippier than than last time, to it’s benefit in my opinion. 7/3/7/3/14-15 On tap at The Wren as ’Tripel Brett’, Toronto

2013-09-15. Hazy dark yellow body small white head. 3+ Aroma is quite spicey, leafy green herbaceous, something that reminds me of pasta sauce but not tomatoes, which might actually be the nachos at the table next to us mixing with what is actually in the beer 6++ Flavour is fairly sweet up front, pale malt, light alcohol throughout. Average plus bodied palate, effervescent carbonation. Decent, but a little bit odd somehow. 7/3/7/3/14 - 3.4 On tap at Bryden’s, Toronto

Byrden’s 2013 Best of the West. Triple with brett, which gives it spice, funk, farmhouse character, interest, some sourness, golden colour. Light to medium head. Complex and different, and a sipper.

(Draught at Brydens, Sep 16 2013) Pours a very murky pale orange with a tiny white head and no lace. Aroma is interesting but restrained, a funky sweaty Brett character atop some pale malts, a little grainy with herbal undertones and a faint sweetness trying to come through, more tart than most tripel noses. Flavour doesn’t really bring the Brett in your face, however. Leads with pale malts, grainy, herbs, a faint yeasty sharpness that is more Brett in its absence of the typical banana/bubblegum/clove esters than it is actively funky, though it is rather tart. Coriander really builds in the middle of the beer along with grain, and a little malt sweetness trying to break through a sweaty horse blanket of sorts. Finishes with tons of coriander and grain, lightly bitter, a clingy sourness in the back of the mouth. Mouthfeel is pretty light for a tripel, and unfortunately overcarbed in typical GL fashion. I like this, but it’s not Bretty enough to be exciting, and mostly herbal. More Brett, Lackey!
