4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Hazy golden-amber pour. The aroma is awesome - loads of fresh prickly pine cone and orange/tangerine citrus. Very tropical with a little bit of lightly minerally bitterness. The beer has hops in abundance. Moderate bitterness though. Very lean palate with a lovely bit of peppery bite. Crisp and refreshing with loads of fresh piny hoppiness. There is a bit of zestiness at I find quote appealing in here. The more I have from these guys, the more I like them. Bitterness becomes more assertive as you get through the glass. Nice pint.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottled sample. Clear pale orange in colour with fairly strong carbonation. Aromas are a mix of pale and crystal malt, along with some fresh cut wood and faint sweet orange. Wood and caramel elements come through strongest in the mouth, but the leafy citric hops are still in play (albeit in qute a gentle way). Medium bodied with a bit of woody bitterness. A bit tame, but still pretty drinkable.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Since the revamp of this beer(Late 2010 early 2011) wow. One of the best hoppy beers currently available in Ontario. Pour deep golden copper with big head and great lacing. Big dry citrus hopped aroma with caramel and a nice balancing malt sweetness. Taste citrus hops, caramel, malt, toffee, and grapefruit. MF is thick chewy and reasonably carbonated. There is a super faint butter taste which is almost exusable and my only tiny gripe with this great Ont brew. Good one guys cheers!

T - Sweet, followed by sour and bitter citrus finish
P - Oily, with ample soft carbonation
O - A good complex beer, but almost too much going on.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Another bomber from Great Lakes Brewing, and a Canadian tribute for the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics. Pours a rich golden colour with an off-white head that is fluffy, with decent retention and dry bubbly lacing. Great grain malt scent (I recognize the same malt found in Steam Whistle and some other pils) at first, and then, the hop appears. An awesome pairing of both. Silky smooth mouthfeel with a little stick in the end. Wicked bitterness the whole way which rules my mouth. Nice grain aftertaste with the hop always present. I really enjoy this brew and will buy some more for the Olympics. A superb pale ale. Great Lakes seems to be impressing more and more, every time they release a new offering.

3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
65 cl bottle, Mulmur, ON, Canada. Frothy head, hazy pale golden colour. Promising aroma of spiced apricot. Rather carbonated, a nice floral spruce flavor comes through. Sharp on the finish, quite nice.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
This is probably the best GLB beer that I’ve ever had. Pours a dirty yellow with a nice white head. Aroma is hop and malt. Taste is a blast of hop bitterness with some citrus and malt notes. A little off balance and the bitterness is a little overpowering. But all in all, a great step forward in the IPA/APA development in Ontario.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
bottle. Poured clear copper with a rocky off-white lasting head. Inviting floral hop aroma. Medium mouthfeel with a creamy texture. Flavours of caramel, grapefruit and a lingering herbal hoppiness throughout . I’m not a huge fan of APAs but I could drink this one.
