COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It’s been said that “Canada is the only country in the world that knows how to live without an identity.” This beer doesn’t help much with that crisis. From the fiercely irresponsible stereotypical image on the front of the can to the distinctly American style of the beer inside it – we’ve really made a mess of things. What have we done? Sorry.

Poured from a 473ml can, golden orange in colour with a nice consistent head. Aroma is citrus, floral, refreshing on the palate. A nice pale.

The can is rather unremarkable visually, and so I’d never expected much from this. Kept avoiding it at LCBO. That it has become my standard beer says a lot. Great balance between malt and hops (there’s plenty of hops). Very easy to drink but stimulating all the same. Feels very well crafted. This and Tankhouse are the 2 Toronto beers I’m always in the mood for - but this one comes in 475mL size, which is preferable.

Pours a light amber somewhat golden colour, clear with a frothy off-white head. Aroma is of mild hops and citrus fruit scents and a little breadiness. Taste is not overly sweet or bitter, slightly underwhelming aside from a slight bitter kick in the finish. Light body, slightly creamy mouth feel and average-softer carbonation.

Cannette 473 ml. 5.2%. Couleur ambrée, mousse blanche-beige . Arôme de houblon frais et malt. J’adore les west coast Pale Ale. En bouche du houblon frais, de l’amertume, du malt. Excellente Pale Ale. Wow.

From 473 mL can. Hazy yellowy orange with small white head. Great hoppy aroma with spruce, cannabis and pine notes. Tastes not as hoppy as it smells. Nice bitter finish. Light bodied (kind of thin) and somewhat watery. Low average to low carbo. Easy to drink APA - needs more balls.

Canette. Merci Patrick.

The pour is a light golden-orange with a finger of dense yellowish head. The nose has a juicy citrus hop with a lovely lemon and grapefruit notes. A light caramel and bready malt. Lovely taste with a huge citrus hop and NW hop presence. A surprising malt presence in the taste with a sweet caramel and toasty bread notes. Overall, a refreshing and tasty pale ale.

From the can. Grew on me, but too much for 90% of the people I encourage to try, may be why it’s dropped to $2.25/can at the LCBO. Pretty refreshing, excellent break from the other ’regular’ beers. Hops really clean the palate. Like this stuff man.

My Bottom Line :
Oranges leap from this American-style Pale Ale’s aroma, as earthy angles and effective caramel malts lead to resinous bitterness.

Further Personal Perceptions :
-A sturdy sheet of foam covers the hazy pale amber.
-This is another beautifully-hopped brew from Great Lakes (see Miami Weisse for another one).
-The caramel malt flavor are simple but they support the hops ably.
-Mouthfeel is creamy, an apt balance of residual sugars and active effervescence.
-Hops also have an earthy touch throughout.

Can.
