Can from the LCBO. That’s a pale ale I like! Pours a golden colour with a generous white head. Aroma of fruits, citrus. Citrus flavour also. Very interesting beer.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: JUL 9, 2012 Tall can. Golden amber with white frothy head, consistent lacing. Strong beautiful aroma of centennials: slightly green, lots of citrus. Medium-bodied. Smooth balance of caramel malt against strong hops. Long, lovely, dry bitter finish. Flying Monkeys Smashbomb IPA had been my favourite Ontario beer until this -- although today was a stressful day and maybe this beer was just in the right place (my hand) at the right time (immediately). *UPDATE: Was not quite as good the next few times. Smashbomb still represents for me the Ontario high water mark in hoppy pale ales.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
500 ml can. Bad name and one of the worst can designs I have ever seen. Almost enough to put me off of trying this ale. Seriously, looks like the packaging was designed by the brewer’s 12 year old kid.
But that’s immaterial, because the ale itself is a winner. A slight cloudiness in the pour which is a much lighter gold than I expected. Big fluffy head and a wonderful citrus aroma. Strong but not overwhelming bitterness that is balanced with a touch of breadiness. Only relative drawback - and this is probably by design - is that the body is a bit weaker than I’d prefer.
But an easy drinking, fairly robust ale. Recommended.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
500 ml can. Decent hops balanced well with malt. Fairly smooth finish. It’s a pretty simple pale ale, but it does it fairly well, so can’t complain.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
473 mL can. Pours straw with a nice white head, leaves no lacing. Pungent fresh hop aroma, lemon, orange, pine and a touch of biscuit flavored malts. Light to medium bodied with full carbonation. Dry with a the pleasant lingering mouth feel of hop bitterness balanced with crisp malt. A tasty session beer: crush a few of these on a hot day.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
can. Orange-gold colour, white head which leaves nice thick lacing. Aroma is hoppy, a little metallic. Taste is quite dry, pine/grapefuit hops, malt came through a bit as it warmed. Enjoyable.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a light amber somewhat golden colour, clear with a frothy off-white head. Aroma is of mild hops and citrus fruit scents and a little breadiness. Taste is not overly sweet or bitter, slightly underwhelming aside from a slight bitter kick in the finish. Light body, slightly creamy mouth feel and average-softer carbonation.
