3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Can (473 ml). Extra from TheJester, thanks Andy! Slightly hazy golden/amber with a medium off-white head, good retention and good lacing. Aroma is of citrus, malt and floral hops... simple yet effective. Taste is slightly sweet with citrus, floral notes, malt and a light bitter finish. Light to medium body. Good carbonation. Dry finish. Very good American Pale Ale. Drinkable and well balanced. A tad too malty, but still really enjoyable.

Strawberry, pine, and citrus aroma with some saltiness. Hazy orange under a white island and ring. Excellently balanced flavour of caramel and hops. Scotch tapey hops, weak malt backbone, moderate bitterness. Light body, low carbonation, slightly bitter finish.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
This is probably the best GLB beer that I’ve ever had. Pours a dirty yellow with a nice white head. Aroma is hop and malt. Taste is a blast of hop bitterness with some citrus and malt notes. A little off balance and the bitterness is a little overpowering. But all in all, a great step forward in the IPA/APA development in Ontario.

650 ml bottle from brewery. Pours a fairly clear orange/gold with small-medium white head. Floral hops strongest in the aroma with citrus and slight caramel; maybe the faintest hint of diacetyl. Flavour starts bready giving way to more prominent diacetyl before the hops really kick in and give a nice floral/citrsuy bitter finish. The butteriness is disappointing but there’s still some things to really commend this beer.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Another bomber from Great Lakes Brewing, and a Canadian tribute for the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics. Pours a rich golden colour with an off-white head that is fluffy, with decent retention and dry bubbly lacing. Great grain malt scent (I recognize the same malt found in Steam Whistle and some other pils) at first, and then, the hop appears. An awesome pairing of both. Silky smooth mouthfeel with a little stick in the end. Wicked bitterness the whole way which rules my mouth. Nice grain aftertaste with the hop always present. I really enjoy this brew and will buy some more for the Olympics. A superb pale ale. Great Lakes seems to be impressing more and more, every time they release a new offering.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Copper orange in colour with a large and long lasting white coloured head, excellent lacing. Aroma is floral and grassy, some soap, quite fresh, some peppery spiciness. Flavour is moderately bitter, floral, glassy, light lemon citrus, some soap bitterness. Bitter mouthfeel, medium/light body, moderate carbonation. Finishes long, bitter and rather dry.
A nice offering from Great Lakes but could use a larger body though.
650ml bottle purchased at the LCBO in Peterborough, Ontario.
Opened on March 4, 2010.

Diolch JoeMcPhee. Golden copper with a grand frohg whitr head. Grapefruit hop aroma. Lovely refreshing brew. Crisp hop, fruit goodness. Not to in your face, but rather subtle, delicate and very enjoyable. As crazy as Canada gets, but very nice indeed.
