It’s been said that “Canada is the only country in the world that knows how to live without an identity.” This beer doesn’t help much with that crisis. From the fiercely irresponsible stereotypical image on the front of the can to the distinctly American style of the beer inside it – we’ve really made a mess of things. What have we done? Sorry.

In short: a tasty pale ale.
Pours hazy to murky deep gold-orange, with nice frothy whie head. Some head retention, some lacing. Fruity, pine, earthy aromas. Medium body, average carbonation, some crispy texture. Taste is fruity, some resins, pine, fruity, moderate biterness. Balanced and enjoyable.

(Backlog) Can at fantasy tasting at Paul’s. (crazy canuck) Orange pour with white head. Hoppy, pine, citrus, grassy hop aromas. Tropical fruit flavors, citrus hop tones. Wait this is from canada?

Big can. Looks golden/amber. Aroma of a lot of citrusy and floral and resinous hops, some pale and light caramel malts, and some light dough. Flavor the same with a nice hoppiness. Average texture.

Not bad, served from draught and they called it the Crazy Canuck. Nice scent with a nice color, initial taste is God without any aftertaste, not sure if it's a pale ale or IPA but it tastes fine ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: JUL 6, 2011 Draught. At Harbord House. Clear pale amber, smallish offwhite head with decent lacing. Bitter aroma, floral and slightly sweet - kind of generic. Taste is solid - quite dryly bitter with background floral/fruity sweetness - reminds me a lot of Mill Street Tankhouse back when it was still good and hoppy and not a burnt metallic stale mess. Average body and mouthfeel with strong carbonation and a nice long bitter finish ... Dry-hopped? - re-rating from the newer can release - incredible C-hop aroma on it now, one of my go-to beers, I always have at least half a dozen can in my fridge - well done, Mike!!!! Why the low scores? This stuff is pretty good, certainly better than 3.2. Pours golden honey with a short lived white cap. The aroma is a pleasant surprise, I generally find us Canadians to be having a hard time with that hoppy, resinous, grapefruit, citrus smell we all love, but it seems Great Lakes has managed to pull it off, with a nice malty baseline to boot (and yes, buttery movie theatre popcorn diacetyl.)(dieuduciel makes the best hop forward beer in canada I think). The flavour pretty much delivers whats promised with the aroma, citrusy, hop goodness, not over the top, not to hot, not to cold, just right, with a bit of a balancing act with the malts, sort of tastes like malt extract, but it manages to do the job moderately well. I see what people are saying about Diacetyl (if you don’t know what that is go here: http://beerme.com/diacetyl.php) And yeah, it’s a bit of a buzz kill. But 3.2......REALLY?

bottle. Poured clear copper with a rocky off-white lasting head. Inviting floral hop aroma. Medium mouthfeel with a creamy texture. Flavours of caramel, grapefruit and a lingering herbal hoppiness throughout . I’m not a huge fan of APAs but I could drink this one.
