3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 solidfunk (661) - Ontario, CANADA - MAY 1, 2012
Smells like floral hops with some grapefruit, even grape. Colour is blond hazy, good lacing. Good head retention. Taste has more hops and fruitiness. Faint but not unpleasant sourness. This beer is wonderful - a great, original pale ale, so much more than the standard hops and malt standard. Among the better APAs I’ve tasted. On cask at Castro’s Lounge.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 WheatKing (192) - Victoria, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 1, 2012
Definitely one of Canada’s best pale ales. Despite this being labelled as "seasonal" I consider this their "standard brew" and it shows how strong they are at their craft. Does not have a hint of the taste of Etobicoke. Nicely hopped nicely balanced. Clap clap clap.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 neongolden (62) - Ontario, CANADA - APR 26, 2012
(473mL can from LCBO) Poured cool, a slightly hazy medium gold with a rocky white head that faded quickly. Aroma citrus-dominated, some grapefruit in particular, faint malt. Flavour again hoppy, a little malty sweetness at first but strongly grapefruit pith, citrus, quenching and a little acidic. Moderate bitterness coming in, finishes tinny and dry. Body fairly lightweight, high soda-pop carbonation, Not too complex but a very refreshing summer pale ale.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 MarkoR (289) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - APR 21, 2012
Can from the LCBO. That’s a pale ale I like! Pours a golden colour with a generous white head. Aroma of fruits, citrus. Citrus flavour also. Very interesting beer.

On tap. Clear gold. Citrus and caramel. Pretty standard "west coast" style. Nice smooth balance and finish is a little bitter. Decent stuff.
3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 asheft (2072) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - APR 8, 2012
[on cask at Arrow and Loon, Ottawa]
Strawberry, pine, and citrus aroma with some saltiness. Hazy orange under a white island and ring. Excellently balanced flavour of caramel and hops. Scotch tapey hops, weak malt backbone, moderate bitterness. Light body, low carbonation, slightly bitter finish.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 baldric (7) - Ontario, CANADA - MAR 24, 2012 does not count
Bought in the can at the brewery retail store.
This is a very good brew. If you like hoppy beers but not too bitter this is for you. I’m impressed what you can get in a can these days.
It’s a pretty tame dry hopped American IPA. My palate tells me about 35-45 IBU so it’s mild tasting. Plenty of Cascade hop flavour. Good amount of caramel malt in the background.
The packaging and labelling really sucks (sorry GLB) but I suppose it’s what is inside that matters. A good value!
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 AWS9 (354) - Mississauga, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 18, 2012
500 ml can. Decent hops balanced well with malt. Fairly smooth finish. It’s a pretty simple pale ale, but it does it fairly well, so can’t complain.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Plovmand (4962) - Helsinge, DENMARK - MAR 17, 2012
Can at home. Trade from TheJester. Pours almost clear golden with a medium white head. The aroma is passion fruit, citrus, light peach and caramel. The flavour is citrussy with notes of fresh fruit, caramel and some resin. Bitter fruity finish. Lovely brew.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 kevinsenn (333) - Waterloo, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 16, 2012
UPDATED: MAR 26, 2012 500mL can from LCBO. Slightly hazy yellow with a long-lasting creamy head. Mild aroma of hops, which is slightly metallic. Taste is decent, some piny and fruity hops and bread, with a mildly bitter, watery, and metallic finish. Feels a little thin, possibly because 5.2% ABV is a little low for the style. A fine session ale, or a good stepping stone for those not yet acquainted with the greatness of hoppy ales. Sampled at the brewery, where it tasted slightly better, and smelt significantly better.
