Big hop aroma. Amber coloured and hoppy with some alcohol present. A little cardboard taste. Dry and bitter malt finish.

On tap at Dominion Pub in Toronto. Pours dark brown like a porter with two fingers of cream head that dissipates quickly. Very little carbonation. Aroma has notes of black licorice and some spices. Initially there are some spring tastes like fresh cut grass. This opens up into a pleasant hoppy bitterness that persists for a while. Decent malt back. Solid.

Can. Innisfil, Ontario, Canada.
Dorky bottle, good beer. Outstanding dark pour, plenty of bubbles, big head that sticks around. Frothy. I want to lather up. Mild nose. Bitter up front - sticks around a long, long time. Very floral, nicely grassy. Like a wander through a wet forest. One of the best Canadian pale ale’s I’ve had. A real winner.

I have to agree with JB84. This has evolved quite a bit, and for the better. It used to be much more sweet and syrupy. I’d say it’s more bitter than before, although that may be just cause it’s not masked by the sugar.
It’s still no match for my favourite APAs from the US, but it’s one of the best brewed in Ontario. That’s why my "overall" score is higher than all the other categories.

This is a ever changing brew that is constantly being tweeked. I do find myself to drink this on the regular as it is one of the better LCBO offerings. Currently it is at the best it has ever been which is always a good thing for a beer being tweeked. Pours a deep orange with good 2 finger head and decent retention. Aroma greets you with floral and citrus hops, biscuit, and caramel. Beer isnt the most balanced it is quite bitter with not enough malt to back it up. Spicey hops, caramel, toffee, grapefruit and other citrus. MF is chewy with good carb. Overall this beer is a good Ontario brew but fails to stand up to US competitors.

UPDATED: MAY 11, 2011 On tap at C’est What in Toronto. I asked for something big and hoppy and brewed in Ontario and this is what he suggested.Brownish in colour with good head, Aromas are hoppy citrus notes. Really hoppy profile with little malts. Palate is more of the same. up front hoppy pine cone notes. some buiscuit notes as well but there is a lack of malt.Overall, i thought it was a beautiful pint.

Pours surprisingly dark clear bubbly bronze with rocky lingering head. Lovely floral/citrus hop aroma with sweet malty backing. Taste doesn’t quite live up to the aroma, with the hops being more bittering than aromatic. Pity because it smelled so lovely. Also it somewhat overpowers the malt, meaning its a little unbalanced.

473ml can. Pours a clear copper with a beige head. Aroma is heavy with juniper and pine, with some biscuit, floral notes, caramel, and wood. Taste is citrus hops up front followed by sweet malt, caramel, with woody grapefruit finish. Overall, a pretty decent offering and one I’ll buy again.
