Mahogony with thin head that still leaves a long lasting ring. Heavy malt aroma with a hint of nuts. OK. Malty, nutty and definately hoppy. Just past thin. Hoppy finish.

Can: Poured a deep dark brown color ale with a big foamy head with good retention and some nice lacing. Aroma of dry malt with some medium notes of caramel malt. Taste is also dominated by some medium caramel malt with a slightly bitter ending. Hops presence was more subdued then what I had expected with some medium carbonation. Interesting but not necessarily something I would go back to very often.

Brightish ruby tinted (fake - like grenadine) copper coloured body with a cola like tan head - interesting. Aroma of fresh malt, oatmeal, grass, pine and a lot of metal. Medium-bodied; Strong astringent and mediciney taste up front with a lot of hops and mostly malt following soon behind. Aftertaste shows more hops with a light toffee sweetness behind and a very mild alcoholic kick near the end. Overall, a decent beer - not the typical APA nor showing a lot of range, but itís not a horrible beer to sample. I sampled this 473 mL can purchased at the LCBO in downtown Ottawa, Ontario, Canada on 08-April-2009, sampled at home in Washington on 12-May-2009.

473mL can poured much darker than the name suggests brown with amber highlights when held to light source. There was about 2 fingers of off-white head which settled to a nice lacing. Aroma is quite pleasant. Taste is nicely balanced between the malt and hops. This is one of the best beers that I have ever tried that comes in a can. Simply amazing.

On tap at Cíest What? Pours dark brown with an off-white head. Lots of chocolate flavors. This is unusual for a pale ale, but good.

bottle on 3/15/11.
Dirty bronze with a small off white head and some foamy spots.
Odd aromaÖ woody, floral hops, orange, dirt, apricots, peaches, caramel and spice. Not pungent or piney, just floral and earthy.
The flavor is the sameÖ lots of florals combined with and odd sweetness. A very mild bitterness on the finish doesnít help make the medium body any less clingy. I hope this is an old bottle (no date) because there is nothing sinister about it. 6/3/5/3/12/2.9
