473ml can. Pours a clear copper with a beige head. Aroma is heavy with juniper and pine, with some biscuit, floral notes, caramel, and wood. Taste is citrus hops up front followed by sweet malt, caramel, with woody grapefruit finish. Overall, a pretty decent offering and one I’ll buy again.

Well hopped. Hint of caramelized malt. Taste of nuts. Looks like a brown ipa.

Pours a very deep amber with a medium off-white head. Aromas of caramel malt and light hops. Tastes quite malty with a light bitter finish. Some alcohol in the finish as well. Medium bodied.

473ml can. Dark mahogany with a frothy off-white head. Flavors are toasted / roasted cereals, citrus, resinous hops, grass and toffee with earthy and nutty notes. Medium body, moderate carbonation, smooth texture.

Poured from 473mL can. Mahogany brown with off white beige head. Citrus and grassy hops with subtle apple. Quite a dry finish.

Not evenly remotely "pale" this one is a deep ruby red in the light, with a thin ever so slightly off white head. The aromas are a nice balance of malts and hops, with some plums in the mix. Very similar tastes. A nice bitter finish on the swallow. Overall, this is far from the best beer from Great Lakes, but as an available all year beer, reach for this before any macros.

Huge off-white tan foamy head. Hazy brown body with hints of amber. Orange zest, underripe oranges, grapefruit zest, fresh cut grass aroma. Very subtle toffee on the nose as well. Palate quite bitter with more malt flavors on the tongue compared to the nose. Some bakers chocolate is very softly present, however this is very hop based for aroma. Dry finish. Medium to elevated alcohol. Pronounced bitterness with a long finish. Crazy & impressive to have a beer so heavily hopped on the nose and seem balanced (relatively) with malt characteristics. Could see this being a contender the mad tom for popularity among hop-heads in the area. Pleasure to taste.

Ummmmmm......Pale Ale? I don’t think I need to reread the definition of pale to understand that this ain’t pale. That being said, I have never been one for convention and this beer certainly isn’t either. It’s gorgeous in all of its dark, devilish glory, a ruby brown with a wonderful beige head. The smell is fantastic! Along with citrus, floral, mildly piney hops and caramel there are exciting notes of plums, vanilla, raisins, coffee and nuts. The taste is the same but also brings with it some light, smooth roasted malt flavour. Intensely complex yet remarkably drinkable, a medium body with mid-soft carbonation and a wee bit of oiliness. My new favourite remarkable "regular" beer. Heaven be damned.

Fresh can at Porterhouse Dublin (only 6 weeks old). Really deep copper pour, almost like a brown ale, dirty white head. Good pine, caramel, wood, and grapefruit pith on the nose. Big pine resin and thick caramalt upon tasting, rough pine and grapefruit bitterness, some woody notes and earthier spices in there. Bitter finish, bit abrasive. Medium body; if you like malt forward pale ales this could be a top one for you. Not to my taste, but enjoyable nevertheless.
