ratman197 (3135), Arvada, Colorado, USA Aug 23, 2009 16 oz. can poured a clear brown with a lingering tan head. Aromas of carmel, molasses, light graininess and a hint of fruittiness. Palate was light to medium bodied and crisp. Flavors of carmel, molasses and light graininess with a crisp malty finish. strowlands8 (75), Ontario, Canada Aug 16, 2009 Can from the LCBO. Very tasty a good balance of hops, not too bitter for an American pale ale, fairly sessionable and also just kind of a cool beer, the writing on the can gave me a bit of a laugh, I"ll probably be buying this one again. AGAquino (73), San Juan, Puerto Rico Aug 15, 2009 can from the LCBO, it is a favourite everyday dark ale while in Toronto on business. Malty sweet, easy drinking,
balanced, with a nice aftertaste. bhensonb (4180), Woodland, California, USA Aug 11, 2009 Can from matt7215. Another exciting beer from this guy. Thanks again. Pours very dark amber with a 4-finger beige head. Aroma is darkly roasted malt. Medium body with frothy carbonation that laces. Flavor is nutty brown malt with some astringent hop. Don’t know that this is an APA. Seems more strong ale. Whatever. Finishes malty and bitter. Really, really tasty ale. IMHO, this is way underrated. hombrepalo (726), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jul 20, 2009 Big Can from LCBO Toronto. Pours a mahogany brown with a thin layer of beige head. Aroma is malty with some notes of caramel and brown sugar. Flavor is pretty malty all the way through, with lots of malt caramel sweetnes, a touch of nuttiness in the middle, finish’s with a bitter sour hop taste. hobbersr (393), Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada Jul 20, 2009 Can thanks to matt7215. Pours a dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is very malty with citrus, toffee, grass, and a little yeast. Tastes very malty with toffee and a nice hoppy finish. Soft mouth feel. Nice beer. Thanks Matt! Spab (234), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 2, 2009 473 ml can from brewery. Pours a reddish brown with tan head. Mild aroma balanced with hops and malts. Flavour is more assertive and balanced between caramel malts and hops. Decent bitter finish. jgb9348 (2492), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA May 13, 2009 Brightish ruby tinted (fake - like grenadine) copper coloured body with a cola like tan head - interesting. Aroma of fresh malt, oatmeal, grass, pine and a lot of metal. Medium-bodied; Strong astringent and mediciney taste up front with a lot of hops and mostly malt following soon behind. Aftertaste shows more hops with a light toffee sweetness behind and a very mild alcoholic kick near the end. Overall, a decent beer - not the typical APA nor showing a lot of range, but it’s not a horrible beer to sample. I sampled this 473 mL can purchased at the LCBO in downtown Ottawa, Ontario, Canada on 08-April-2009, sampled at home in Washington on 12-May-2009.
