473ml can from MrManning - thanks Lenny! Dark, honey brown pour with a big, off white, almost yellowy head. Drippy lacing. Interesting nose - nutty, some nectarine, caramel, toffee and a bit of tobacco. Earthy flavors, toffee and caramel, some doughy notes. How is this a pale? At all? Not. Regardless, a nice drinker. Finish is pretty empty, just a slight mineral tinge. Nice.

Well, to the Devil, this may be considered "pale". In actuality, its a deep mahogony brown color and topped with a 2 finger width tan colored head. The can is pretty slick as well. Aroma is sweet, with maple syrup being prominent. There is some sweet grain, a touch of chocolate, and alcohol. Mildly sweet flavor of roasted malt and toffee, with moderate astringency. Body is somewhat thin and watery, with a biting carbonation. This was an interesting beer to try, just needs a bit more oomph in the flavor. How about a Canadian Strong Ale category? :)

I was surprised to see that this was an American Pale Ale. Kind of dark and heavy for this style. I liked it though. Very malty. Nicely carbonated

Canned sample via gregclow. Deep amber in colour with average carbonation. Aromas are mainly of caramel and lightly toasted malts, along with a wiff of grapefruit. Flavor wise there’s a whole lotta toast, caramel, and candied oranges. Some bread dough becomes apparent near the finish. A bit heavy and dark for an APA, but a fairly good beverage nonetheless.

Devils Pale Ale pours (from a can, actually) a clear red-amber with a thin ivory head. This is a heavy beer for a pale ale, with lots of caramel malt and hops. The whole ’6’ theme with ingredients is cool, and yields a fairly balanced beer, but not the best.

Interesting premise for a beer. Pours a clear brownish-amber with a brief head. Aroma is sweet malt, light hops, pretty macro-ish. Tastes likewise - plenty of crystal, slightly stale hops. Tastes more like an attempt on an ESB (slightly nutty character) than an American Pale Ale. Body is thin and marginally carbonated. Thanks to robinboyer for the trade - gotta try everything once!

I first tried this on December 30, 2007 after purchasing from my local LCBO outlet. First, allow me to write what is on the side of the can

666 kilograms of malt
6.66 kilograms of hops
66.6 minutes of boiling
6% alc/vol
6.6.06 Date of Conception

This beer poured a translucent dark red, it was beautiful. The head was white, very thin, and disappeared quite quickly. The aroma was sweet malt, a little hops, and a faint touch of licorice. The mouthfeel is medium-bodied, salightly creamy, and mildly carbonated. The flavour is primarily malts, with a little bit of sourness. There was no detectable hop presence in the flavour. <

Caramel malts and fruity esters suggesting raisins and plums are strong in the nose. Clear deep brown body is topped by a shy but decent tan fine bubbled head that recedes to a lasting cover. Raisins and caramel are strong also in the flavour with some doughy malt character but very little hop flavour apparent and restrained bitterness that is only just enough to keep the sweetness from cloying. Somewhat thin and perhaps a bit astringent light body with moderate carbonation. Can (LCBO at Summerhill, Nov-07) sampled with Beershine and Oakes.
