crushinat0r (226), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Nov 28, 2007 Dark brown in colour, very odd for a pale ale. Minimal lacing head. Smells a little nutty and malty. The taste is a little too metallic for my liking. Refreshing though with a nice roasted coffee aftertaste. Strange for a pale ale.
KyotoLefty (110), Kyoto, Japan Aug 29, 2008 Dark brown with lots of red. Rich aroma of amber malts, plums, caramel, lots of dark fruit; slightly sherry-like. Clean, hoppy flavor with lots of fruity malt, apples, plums, a touch of citrus, and some caramel and molasses. Nicely hopped from beginning to end. Dry, hoppy, aromatic and bitter finish. Very nice. Rich malt, great hops. No problems here. mullet2007 (115), Newfoundland, Canada Aug 19, 2008 Pours a deep coppery amber colour with a thin off white head. Nose is thick caramel malts and some citrusy hop notes. Flavour is very much the same. There’s a strong does of hop bitterness in there as well, which rounds the flavour out very nicely. It’s fairly thick and the carbonation is spot on for the style. Very nice beer. Thaichile (594), 10aFly, New Jersey, USA Aug 16, 2008 Can. Pours a definately not pale ale, looking more like Coke than a pale ale., very, very suprising. Thin, off-white head, goes away quickly. Flavor is overwhelmingly roasty and malty with some coffee notes which overwhelms the hops, if in fact there are any. The devil darkened this one up for sure. Thanks to blankboy for this one. dkachur (771), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Aug 7, 2008 473 mL can from matt7215. Thanks Matt! Dark chocolate brown pour with medium head, good retention and lively carbonation. Moderately faint, nutty, roasted malt aroma with subtle leafy hop notes. Very malty taste... roasted malts, coffee, molasses and hops. Full bodied. kwoeltje (1207), Manchester, Missouri, USA Aug 5, 2008 (500ml can) dark brown-black with tan head. Aroma of smoky malt. Flavor of roast/smoky malt and dark fruits. Didn’t notice the hops as much.
