Rerate as Great Lakes Ginga Ninga Saison at Bar Volo. Hazy golden pour with a tight white head. The aroma is quite spicy with a lot of ginger and citrus character. Spicy yeast and a little bit of fusel character. Malts are quite simple and there is a nice gingery bite along with a little bit of peppercorn flavour as well. A little bit of light ethanol bite in addition. There is a vaguely Leffe-like spiciness to the yeast that comes across as a little bit more clovey than I might prefer. Moderate sweetness as well, which is the sort of thing I would prefer not to have. It’s okay, but it’s not great.

UPDATED: MAR 1, 2012 Bottle [660ml]. Pours a slightly hazy orange-amber with an average size diminishing fizzy white head. Aroma is sweet, perfumy and gingery along with caramel malt, some fruit and light grassy hops. Flavour of caramel malt and ginger followed by light sugary sweetness, light grassy hops and light bitter finish. Average to medium bodied. Pretty good, I’d prefer even more ginger in here but it’s still enjoyable as it is. -- Rated via Beer Buddy.
