Tap at The Only Cafe. Deep amber coloured brew with a thin white head. The aroma has a nice soft fruitiness as well as a little bit of spice. Possibly a whiff of pear and maybe some plum/date. A little bit of light bitterness. The palate is lean but there’s something about this one that doesn’t seem quite right. A littlle bit of cooked fruit. It’s okay - just not entirely to my taste.

Aroma plenty of vanilla, nail polish , anise and soft funk.
Appearance hazed amber-gold with large fine creamy head. Sticky lace. 3+
Flavor and Palate : Oak barrel feel, gum , wheat , gold malts with funky wrap. Pas its aroma this was solid offering. Very different.

[3931-20110825] Tap. Brandy malt syrup aroma has a hint of something spicy. Slightly hazy, bright amber red body with a quick foamy white head. Yeasty spiced soft bread dough flavour has a great sour aftertaste. Medium body has good sour notes throughout. Lovely balance. (7/3/9/4+/17) 4.0

Draught at Volo for "We Love The Funk Night". Pours a murky ruby-amber with a small creamy off-white head. Aroma: Oh, that’s barrel-aged alright. Sweet with brown sugar, lots of wood and some alcohol. Slightly tart flavour with lots of wood, quite sour. Medium bodied. It’s a bit too "barrel-aged" for my liking but it’s till very good.

2011-08-25. Dark amber body, small off-white head. 3+ Very woody aroma, muted funk. 6+ Flavour is mild, less woody, and far more sour! Lovely acidity grows into waves of mouth puckering sour acidity. 8+ Average bodied palate. Wow! It really pops. Looking forward to future batches of this. Aged in an older barrel the rest of aroma might be allowed out to play a bit more. Very good stuff. On tap at Volo, Toronto

Night of Funk at Bar Volo, the superstar of the show. A top notch creation, aimed at the Beer Geeks. Where the trend is going, unbalanced, dial turned up to sour power. Dark brown and lacey. Grape, oaky, Brett right there. Eight month of oaking and it shows. Feels 9% -ish abv. Above average mouthfeel. A sipper, but the half pint allowed must be finished. Something special.

Draught at Volo ’funk night.’ Poured into a tulip glass. Hazy red and brown colour. Sour aroma, woody with lots of brett, lemon zest, fresh cut flowers and plenty of yeast. Full bodied. Wild, farmhouse flavour. Complex. Sour lemon and lime with damp wood, hay, tart apple. Long finish.
