Draught at Volo, poured into a wine glass. Dark amber and cloudy in colour. Peppery aroma with lemon, orange, then lime zest. Medium bodied and smooth. Bready malt leads to citrus zest, floral flavours, yeast, grass and dandelion. Medium finish.

On tap at Volo. Pours an opaque golden brown with modest-sized eggshell coloured head. Aroma is yeasty with a sort of citric fruitiness, light spice and a floral note. Taste is yeast, lemon, pepper with some floral character. Modest bitterness in finish. Very pleasant and drinkable.

Cask at Volo April 30, 2012. Hazy deep amber-orange with a large frothy-foamy off-white lasting head - thick lace remnants too. Juicy aroma, not sweet but heavy malt with floral bitterness balancing it, a spicy young bretty funk - no alcohol. Taste follows, but muted funk and thicker malt, it is buttery in a good way; rich and thick, with a dry floral slightly acidic finish. Seemed a bit young, but tasty and it went down a treat.

650mL bottle, listed as 7.8% ABV on bottle, pours a cloudy golden orange with a white head. Aroma of brett yeast, barnyard funk and rustic qualities. Flavour is quite different, being salty and soapy - salty hops, some brett, mineral-y, some barnyard - overridden by the salty notes. Solid.

Pale golden yellow pour with a thin white head. The aroma is lightly spicy with a kiss of lemon citrus. It almost has a touch of coriander there, although I suspect it’s just the yeast. Light-bodied and a little bit of soft white pepper. The yeast doesn’t really have the sort of individuality I’d prefer to see, but it’s still a decent brew.

Sampled at Volo GLB tasting. Pours a murky amber with a small and diminishing white head. Aroma has strong berry notes, vanilla, nicely tart, some tropical fruit. Taste is citric, decent hop bite, more tropical fruit and berries, some yeastiness. Very enjoyable.

On tap at Volo
Aroma rather sweet with hint of wheat in there , elements of fruit (berry) , cellar earthy dryness. 7+
Appearance amber with haze. Good creamy top.4-
Flavor and Palate : Medium plus bodied. Front is accented to be on sweeter side. Texture it self was rather chewy. Fruity follow up with hop accents behind. This ale is quiet drinkable. Friendly fruity fink. Nice.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 blankboy (4454) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 22, 2011
Draught at Volo. Pours a hazy amber with a small creamy lasting off-white head. Nice aroma of yeast, spices & herbs, tangy/sour fruit and tropical/citrus fruit. Flavour, also nice, of yeast, herbs & spices, wheat and lots of fruit. Light but long bitter finish. Medium bodied. Maybe not totally on style for a Saison (to me) but it’s quite enjoyable, I really liked it.
