Thanks to Blankboy. Appearance: Cloudy red, small white head. Aroma: right from my first whiff I was transported back to when I lived in the Middle East, sandalwood, incense, lavender, wood, just warm and inviting. Just reminds me of the markets. Phenomenal what your sense of smell can do!!! Flavour: wow, it’s that whole smell experience in a taste format, like chewing on newly sanded sandalwood, as nerdy and wordy as this rating sounds, this beer is playing havoc on my senses!!! Such a perfumy, woody finish. I LOVE it! Wow. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pour copper off white head. Aroma incense, wood, sandalwood, spices, saffron. Taste oranges, incense, wood, beeswax. MF medium body light carb. Not my cup of beer but a interesting spin.

My bottle [650ml] shared with HogTownHarry & garthicus. Pours a hazy amber with a small diminishing frothy off-white head. Aroma of spruce, burnt wood, caramel malt, beeswax, fruit, incense and more -- so interesting! Flavour of spruce, wood, beeswax, fruit, caramel malt and more. Average to medium bodied. What an interesting fun beer, I really enjoyed it.

22oz bottle shared by blankboy with me and garthicus. Hazy deep copper with a small diminishing off-white head. Aroma - initially PVC, then pungent spicy wood - like the warehouse of the Bombay Company - very pungent. Taste - same, moreso - aggressive teak/mahogany/sandalwood shavings, very little beer character - yikes. Average body, astringent, good carbonation, and that wood stays on the tongue way after it finishes. Interesting, but not my thing.

[3714-20110430] Tap. Smells like strong beeswax candle drippings have infused into an oak barrel. Hazy, red brown body with a medium-lasting foamy off-white head. Sweet oak toffee malt flavour has an aftertaste of beeswax. Medium body. Interesting oak characteristics throughout but it all overpowers the beer until that’s the only thing recognizable. 2011-04-30. Hazy amber body with a nice creamy beige head and lace. 3+ Aroma of beeswax and fresh wood, bit of honey accents, varnish (but not in the negative way that sounds). It reminds me a little bit of Rosewood ’s oaked mead actually. 6+ Flavour is similar, beeswax and wood character that dominates, light alcohol and wood lingers long into the finish. Sweet malt has a kiss of sugary malt but fails to break through the wood more than intermittently. Mild bitterness throughout. 6+ Average palate. It has some really interesting components but I am beginning to think I am overly sensitive to oak as I found the wood flavours quite prominent. Might try again despite it not being to my tastes. Another fun offering by Lackey et al. that is a complete story in wood, every molecule of it. Floor polish aromas. Above average moutheel. Lacey with a significant head.A sweet malty edge that keeps it drinkable, it may even be brett, some hops. This is not a pale ale. Some spice.

Aroma: soft aromatic hop hints with sweet sugary candy like feel. 6+
Appearance: Deep garnet red look. Thick creamy crown on top. Pretty rings of lace noted on glass. 4-
Palate / Taste: Medium bodied. Spicy front. Fell of spruce , pepper nutmeg and cinnamon. Slight oak treatment noted on top. Complex if not confusing. Still fairly drinkable.
