4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 JoeMcPhee (6967) - Toronto, ON, - APR 3, 2011
Deep amber pour with a tight white head. The aroma is really quite fruity. Lots of berry and an almost floral sweetness. Lots of juicy fruit hoppiness over a fairly sweet malt base. A little bit of soft spiciness along with a bit of light lemon and more fruit. It’s very appealing in a very unique way. There is an almost musky component that is backed by a touch of sweet malt. The beer is moderately bitter and really quite balanced. Man - I like this a whole lot more than I normally like these sweeter IPAs.

[3593-20110211] Cask. Light earthy mushroom hops aroma has a hint of floral citrus rind. Red body with a quick foamy off-white head. Bitter hoppy citrus rind flavour has a long bitter aftertaste. Medium-full body. Tasty but a little rough. (7/3-/7-/3/14) 3.4

A good fruity imperial IPA, very Great Lakes who discovered hops and are now manipulating it in interesting ways. Smooth mouthfeel, lacey. Some hops in nose. Tangy and bitter throughout.

2011-02-11. Dark amber body with a modest tan head and lace. 3+ Lovely bitterness throughout, very nice citrusy hops, lemon and grapefruit seed, modest sweet malt core is supportive and brings a pleasant balance to it. 8+ Pleasant hoppy aroma, citrus and malt, touches of caramel. 7+ Smooth medium bodied palate suits it nicely. Pleasant lingering bitter hops in the finish at first, grows more bitter and ever so slightly astringent when it warms up as the alcohol grows more prominent. First glass was exceptional, the second just very good. Cask at Volo, Toronto
