3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 jerc (5591) - Toronto, - JAN 21, 2012
2012-01-12. Black body with a small tan head. Nice aroma, brief sweet caramel touch and dark malt gives way to a giant bag of curry. Powerful spice wave up front, muted malt and very light roast tries to follow. Strong curry Flavour, bit of cardamom and other spice is kind of burny. Average plus bodied palate. Cool experiment but far too intense for me. On tap at Project X

Bottle [660ml]. Pours a very dark reddish-brown with a small diminishing bubbly tan head. Aroma of lightly roasted malt, vanilla, coffee, chocolate, some mild lactic notes and just a tiny hint of curry. Flavour: Oh yeah, it follows the aroma but the curry comes through much, much more -- it’s unique for sure and I like it. Long spicy finish. A touch watery and average bodied. I can honesty say I’ve never tasted a beer like this, and I like curry, so it’s a winner for me.

On tap at Volo. Pours a dark brown colour with modest-sized tan head. Aroma is roasty at the front with a spicy/peppery note that is mellow compared to the flavour. The spices, especially the curry, really dominate the taste and linger in a long finish. I’ll confess I’m not wild about curry and it did throw me.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Sammy (6125) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 12, 2012
Bottle from Project X January. Leaving it for a month to take the edge off the spices worked for me. Curry, Cumin,Cayenne, these are spices I will take unadulterated in my dishes. So their prominence in the beer did not throw me off, in fact i liked it. Stout backing it was just ho-hum. Black colour, with dark brown muddy retained head. Spices in the nose, clearing the sinuses. Decent drinkability.
