4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at Imbibe. This one came as a great break for me as I had been drinking Stouts all night. Clear goldish-amber with a medium white head. The aroma is fantastic, just a huge punch to the face of Citra hops, so much citrus and pine character, peachy too. Flavour is even better, with a perfect balance between the adequate malt body and the ample hop aspects. I thought I actually wasn’t really a Citra hop fan but this beer totally changed that. Awesome peachy-lemony character that was difficult not to drink too quickly. Definitely a great offering from GLB.

UPDATED: FEB 28, 2013 Smells citrusy and a little malty. Lots of citra hops. Tried this right after the beirgotter hopacalypse and I found that onea little better. Still, this is nice and fruity, has good orange pour and great lacing. Taste is bitter. Palate pretty good. On tap at volos.
Great head and lacing I forgot to mention last time I tried tried this. Nicer beer this time as well.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap. Hazy orange pour, thin white head. Aroma is big citrus and resin, grapefruit, pineapple, hard candy, sweet hint of caramel, and grass notes. Chewy, sticky and sweet. Long bitter hoppy finish. Really big citra hops in this. A little sugary and sticky in the finish, but balanced and booze is well hidden. A little syrupy in the aftertaste, but still a very damn good IPA.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
(On draught at Bryden’s, Toronto, June 2012) Pours a clear golden amber with a substantial white head that faded quickly but left lacing. Aroma of grapefruit zest, pit fruit, grass, a relatively light biscuity pale malt note. Flavour leads with citrus rind, slight juiciness, green grassy hops with very faint pine, caramel malt is very restrained. Limited sweetness, astringent early with dry and quite strongly bitter hops on the finish. Smooth, big hop character but still relatively delicate with the limited contribution from malt and lack of resiny notes. Medium-bodied, somewhat high on carbonation, but easy-drinking and very flavourful with good balance. A tasty thirst-quencher of an IPA.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: NOV 30, 2012 March 12, 2011 - Great Lakes Tap Take-over at Volo. Draught. Murky yellow-orange with a fairly large creamy off-white head and nice lacing. Aroma - ooooh, nice! - catnip, catty, pungent, maybe a bit of spruce - citra! 8+ ... Taste - follows, light grain, citrus, and pungent and robust - unlike the Johnny Simcoe, this one may be better tasting than smelling - not much alcohol either - nice balance, too. Solid body, astringent, decent carbonation, a fairly long dry pungent catty finish - yumm. More, please.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
750mL bottle from the brewery. Pours a hazy deep orange with lots of thick white head. Smell is distinctly citrus with a tiny bit of grass. Palate is good, with medium-light body and decently active carbonation. Taste is a bit of a let down, a bit overly bitter with a bit of an alcohol note in the aftertaste, though still a decent IPA.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
In short: A blonde IPA with a solid malt backbone and a complex hop profile. Excellent
How: Bottle 22oz. Consumed very fresh about 2 weeks after bottling. Bottle forwarded to me by blankboy, thanks a lot Paul
The look: Slightly cloudy blonde-orange body, many small particles, small white head
In long: Nose has some of the typical citra hops character, which for me translates into tropical fruits and some cat urine. Taste proposes a solid malt backbone that provides body without much flavor (nothing wrong with that in a generously hopped IPA) with a character that is white bread baguette and plain crackers. Then comes the generous hopping that offers more than what I usually get from single hop Citra IPA. Yes I got the topical fruits, the light cat urine presence but also dry pine-tree, orange peels, lemons, grapefruits, more… Somehow I though this was a little more boozy than it should be for a mere 6.8% brew. Bitterness level is only medium, which was perfect for the discreet malt backbone. This was a really good IPA. I’ll probably lose all credibility here but I actually liked this Ontario Citra IPA just as much as the super-hyped Kern River Citra from California I had a week before. Anyway, I told myself that I would stop after 3 beers yesterday but apparently I wasn’t listening.
