   AROMA 8/10   APPEARANCE 3/5   TASTE 8/10   PALATE 3/5   OVERALL 17/20

In short: A blonde IPA with a solid malt backbone and a complex hop profile. Excellent
How: Bottle 22oz. Consumed very fresh about 2 weeks after bottling. Bottle forwarded to me by blankboy, thanks a lot Paul
The look: Slightly cloudy blonde-orange body, many small particles, small white head
In long: Nose has some of the typical citra hops character, which for me translates into tropical fruits and some cat urine. Taste proposes a solid malt backbone that provides body without much flavor (nothing wrong with that in a generously hopped IPA) with a character that is white bread baguette and plain crackers. Then comes the generous hopping that offers more than what I usually get from single hop Citra IPA. Yes I got the topical fruits, the light cat urine presence but also dry pine-tree, orange peels, lemons, grapefruits, more… Somehow I though this was a little more boozy than it should be for a mere 6.8% brew. Bitterness level is only medium, which was perfect for the discreet malt backbone. This was a really good IPA. I’ll probably lose all credibility here but I actually liked this Ontario Citra IPA just as much as the super-hyped Kern River Citra from California I had a week before. Anyway, I told myself that I would stop after 3 beers yesterday but apparently I wasn’t listening.

The pour is a clear golden color with a finger of white head. Light grass notes along with citrus peel and pine. A touch of pineapple along with some pale maltiness. A bit of candied citrus peel along with some grapefruit peel, pine, and grass. Sweetness from pale malt and a little bit of caramel.

Appearance: Golden orange, thick white head. Aroma: beautifully hoppy, lemon, mango, lots of pine, smells great. Flavour: lots of pine and fresh wood, leafy, lots of mango and just phenomenal secondary hops. Delicious.

cask at Coles, Buffalo NY. Great aroma on this, citrusy hop driven. Flavor was citrusy bitterness, lemon, orange zest. Very nice IPA

Sample at the brewery. Pour slight hazy golden orange with off white head nice lace. Aroma citrus fruits, mango, pineapple. Taste quite powerful hopping but not overly bitter, terrific tropical and citrus flavor with a mild malt profile. MF medium chewy body mild carb. Really solid brew would love to see more of this one well done.

Thanks to jerc for this. Pours a slightly hazy golden yellow with a sizable frothy white head and great lacing. Aroma is great. Big citrus and orange, loads of citrus hops. Taste again is great for an Ontario IPA. Up front is the citrus hops and orange peel. Smooth, dry bitterness with a sweet citrus almost floral aftertaste that is so pleasant. This needs to be a regular brew.

3rd annual Ontario Cask IPA Challenge tasted blind. Bright golden pour. The aroma is really lovely. Tropical and fruity with a nice fresh resiny character. A little bit of pale malt sweetness. Lean bodied and perfectly fresh smelling. Orange/lemon and some other bright citrusy notes. Tropical and awesome.

Sample at Volo GLB tasting. Poured a medium yellow gold with decent off white foam. Aroma is jumping with very citric hops. Taste is sublime; big, chewy hops with an abundance of lemony sourness along with the bitter notes. Finishes better than most of the IPA’s on tap tonight. This is the winner.

Draught at Volo. Pours a cloudy orange-copper with a small diminishing white head. Aroma: Oh wow, I love this, it’s amazing! Just lots and lots of lovely hops galore. Flavour’s just as great, again with lots of lovely hops -- it’s so flavourful. Nice, somewhat long bitter finish. Medium bodied. Hands down the beer of the night and quite possibly Great Lakes’ best beer yet.

On tap at Volo
Aroma very fresh citrus hop profile. Touch of candy.7+
Appearance hazed amber with medium top.
Flavor and Palate : medium bodied ale. Chewy malty with long stretch of neat alpha hop notes. Good and fairly drinkable but I would not call this great beer.
