News of any new hop coming from the Yakima Valley perks the ears of IPA brewers everywhere, but, with Citra, things were different. The buzz was bigger. As Citra’s wave rolled across the land from the west coast we waited... and waited. Finally it crested, and a sample crashed into our pilot system. After brewing with it all the buzz made sense. Comments ranged from "Well that changes the game" to "It’s so good it feels like we’re cheating." Today we procure as much as Citra as we can to bring you as much of this IPA as our little brewery can muster. All hail Citra!

Bottle from the LCBO. Hazy pale orange-amber with a generous fluffy white head that fades slowly and leaves great lace. Nose is loaded with resinous pine, citrus and floral hops. Just sweet enough in the start to balance the huge citrus bitterness in the middle and end. Medium slick mouth and a dry chewy finish. Need to pick up more before they are all gone...

UPDATED: AUG 5, 2014 2014/08/04 - Pours a hazy orange/copper colour with a thick, pillowy, off white head that lingers and leaves ample lacing. Aroma is oranges, citrus, mild tropical fruits, mild pine, floral hops and caramel. Taste is pine, orange, floral hops, mild tropical fruits and caramel. Mouthfeel is medium and slightly sticky with mildly sharp carbonation and a juicy, bitter finish that lingers. Great balance between the floral hops and the moderately sweet fruits. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a hazy copper, with a large white head and amazing lacing. Aroma includes notes of citrus, grapefruit, and spice. Tasting notes include an enormous orange rind/peel taste. Along with grapefruit, mango, and even more orange peel. The bitterness is beautifully masked by the over powering orange peel taste that dominates the pallet. This is a very complex, and beautiful brew!

Bottle. hazy orange gold pour with a rocky medium white head that dissipates to thin layer but leaves some good lacing. Aroma of citrus and floral hops, orange.Taste is sweet up front but changes to a lovely bitter finish that sticks around.

This is a great beer. Pours somewhat cloudy unripe peach colour with limited head and lots of lacing. Nose is very fruity and lots of pine. Flavours are tropical fruits, grapefruit, maybe a hint of peach, lots of piney bitterness. Taste is medium bitter, light sweet. Fullish body with lively carbonation and a bitterness that only sticks around a little bit. Very, very, drinkable.

Clear orange in colour with a thin but lasting white head, excellent lacing. The aroma is of oranges, grapefruit, floral hops. The flavour is of tropical fruits, oranges, candy and pine. Bitter mouthfeel, medium body, moderate carbonation. Finishes long, zesty and bitter. A really nice drinkable and well balanced IPA.

All hail citra is right. This is a beast of a flavourbomb and I dare you to not enjoy it! Deep orange amber with a frothy white foam like a custard of head. Beauty lace. Inviting aromas of the citra hop......very floral, with citrus and resiny aspects. Sweet but insanely bitter. Like a tropical fruit explosion mixed with catty bitterness. Excellent. Big long bitter finish, lingering pear like fruitiness accompanies.Drank a lot of this lately!

Thanks to Jay for this one too! Great smelling beer as you pour it from the can. Tons of fruity citra hops, tropical fruit. Orange body, nice creamy white head. Very easy drinking, alcohol well hidden, light body. Great stuff.
