[3760-20110620] Tap. Mild smoked tootsie roll aroma. Black body with a quick creamy mocha head. More smoked fruity roasted fig notes in the flavour has an odd twangy sour-like undertone. Medium-full body. Odd, not in a good way today. (6-/4-/6/3/13) 3.2~

I tried this beer on tap on July 15, 2011 at "Bar Volo" in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer appeared a solid black with a bubbly white head. The aroma was smoke, coffee, caramel, and cherries. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Thew flavour was bitter coffee with a little chocolate sweetness to balance it out.

On tap at Volo. Pours a cola-ish brown colour with modest-sized off-white head. Aroma is rather light with roasted malt and coffee with subtle fruity yeastiness. Taste is roasty with coffee and chocolate as well as a more prominent yeasty fruitiness. Fine, fairly active carbonation. Nice.

Draught at Bryden’s. Pours a great-looking black with an average size lasting frothy tan head. Decent lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt and coffee foremost followed by some chocolate and mild lactic notes. I’m not getting much of the Belgian yeast in the aroma, it’s quite subtle. Flavour of sweet roasted malt, coffee, Belgian yeast, fruit and some chocolate. Medium bodied, creamy mouthfeel. Very good stuff.

Appearance: Pitch black, small yellow head. Aroma: woody, chocolate, toasty, good amount of malt, vanilla. Flavour: Malty, chocolate, creamy with a good amount of wood, bran, burnt toast and a long malty cocoa finish. Nice.

2011-07-20. Black body with a nice tan head. 4+ Dry roasty aroma is nice, with sort of a dry mocha cocoa character. The flavour has a lovely fruity malt character up front that gives way to a pretty dry roast character. Fruity Belgian notes come back in the aftertaste. Smooth average plus bodied palate. I find that the fruity character of the yeast clashes a bit with the bitter roast malt at times, but on other sips I find I like the difference. Enjoyable porter. On tap at Brydens, Toronto
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Sammy (6125) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 19, 2011
Great Lakes tap takeover at Bryden’s. Black coffee and chocolate aroma. Beauty of a wite creamy head on black body. Smooth above average mouthfeel, mildly acidic and a bit dry. Licorice, mollasses and chcoolate taste. Lacey and very drinkable.

On tap at charity barbeque. Porter poured a really dark colour, smell is of belgian yeasty notes. Taste is similar with a bits of notes of a dark roasty malts, this one tasted really good. It was something great, it had nice bit of spicyness to it as well, I would like to see this one again.
