COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Okay, weíre busted! Weíre calling this beer a weiss; itís not! Weíre suggesting itís from Miami; weíve never even been there. Confused? So are we.

What we know is it is an American style take on a traditional German wheat beer - A Pale Wheat. Rather than a mild hop presence, this baby is packed with Pacific Northwest hops. Itís made with a pale ale yeast which doesnít produce the same banana flavour you find in German weiss beers. We also know that it goes down smooth and tastes terrific.

So, whatís with the name Miami Weiss? Itís just something the guys in marketing came up with.

Thanks to cfrancis for this one. Pours a cloudy straw yellow with a big frothy white head. Aroma of wheat, sweet fruity esters, tropical fruit and orange. Taste is wheat, orange, tropical fruit and some piney hops. Excellent wheat ale with a nice hop bit and crisp refreshing finish.

Hazy orange with a thin but creamy head. Really refreshing aroma of tropical fruit. Taste is fairly strong bitterness with just a hint of creamy citrus and banana bread.

Bottle, thanks to jerc. Pours lightly cloudy yellow, 2-finger foamy white head, very persistent, fine lacing. Nose is pretty citrus hops, lemon and grapefruit predominantly, with hints of wheat behind, nice smelling beer! Flavours of grapefruit, spice, creamy body, nice bitter finish. I could drink this all day! Fun fact: Consumed while I was brewing a 4.5%, heavily hopped, wheat beer. Hopefully mine turns out as nice!

Bottle: Iím told this is bottle conditioned but I assume this is cask brew finished in the bottle rather than the a cask. Pours a cloudy golden ale in the flute with a solid puffy cap...great lacing. Nice soft natural carbonation. Aroma is unique for a Weizen this has a pungent bouquet of fruity esters mingled with PNW hops; exotic fruits-banana-citrus...light biscuit aroma. Soft mouth feel... biscuity, citrus resinous hopping, dry citrusy finish. Bright flavors but not the fruit basket the aroma promised...lacking spice phenols. I got a couple of these and I suspect as a bottle conditioned weiss it may take a couple more weeks to have all the flavors develop. Iíll sample it again.

Special Project X bomber. Clear off-gold with abundant white puffy head. Aromas citrus and a bit of grass. Taste is pretty hoppy with grapefruit rind and lemon and a light green herbal character, and under this a light feel. Some ganga-like character, possibly Simcoe? Amarillo and Centennial. Lacking a bit of fruit and body (GL beers seem to go lean or heavy on malts.) Overall? Surprised this is not sweeter, like a Hefe (given the name) but thatís OK.

Golden to light orange colour, slightly cloudy. Iím surprised by the amount of orange and fruity hops in the aroma. There isnít any hint of esters and if i were to smell this blind iíd swear it was more like a pale or something like this. On the palate the hoppy bitterness is present has some acidity, medium body and has a empty mid-palate but overall drinks like an ale. A very different take on the style. Like it alot.

Thanks to JB84 for this. The design of this bottle is so atrocious that its pretty hilarious. Brilliant. Pours a cloudy golden. Lots of grapefruit aroma. Tastes quite a bit of wheat, coriander, citrus with a bit of resinous hops. This is pretty decent.

Cloudy gold with a thin white head. Aroma is mild citrus and subtle bubble gum. Decent body and flavour is sharp citrus and nice edgy bitters.

Sampled at the Cíest What spring festival 28/05/10. Pours a light amber with decent white head. Aroma boasts fairly piney hops. A decent malting is evident. Hoppy taste with some good malt to back it up. Itís a little thin but perhaps thatís unfair considering I had it after the imperial heffe by the same brewer. Good.

650 mL bottle from the LCBO, served in a weizen glass. Pours hazy golden with a tall white head. The head fades slowly to... and leaves a moderate amount of fine lace. On the nose, there are huge notes of grapefruit and pine, along with a touch of pale malts. The flavour is moderately bitter throughout, with a huge amount of grapefruit. Notes of wheat and pale malts are also present, but take a back seat to the grapefruit. The finish is long, bitter and citric. On the palate, it is light-medium in body with a dry texture and intense carbonation. Overall, an interesting brew--light and dry with wheat on one hand, and intensely citric on the other. The combination of wheat and IPA works surprisingly well. 2011-10-06
