Cask Days 2009 @ volo. black with tan bubbles. aroma of coffee, smoke, dark malt. the flavour is very much of burnt coffee. the finish is a little astringent. its tough to be the best coffee stout at a cask fest when you can also get peche mortal but this was still a nice drop. keep em coming great lakes.

Nov 17, 2009 Cask. At Volo Cask Days 2009. Opaque black pour with an average creamy than head. Dry aroma, deeply roasty, plenty of nutty coffee character, slightly bitter - good stuff. The taste is also deeply roasty, but the balance in the aroma is missing, it’s a bit harshly bitter and coffee ground - acidic - very dry. Slick, acidic mouthfeel, should be creamy - has a very long bitter finish: loved that aroma though.

Nov 16, 2009 On cask @ Volo cask days: Appearance: Pitch black with a nice small tan head. Aroma: Chocolate, coffee, quite roasty, lots of pepper and something almost ’sweaty’ about it... Flavour: Sharp malt, tangy, lots of hops, some smoke and peat with a creamy finish.

Appearance: dark brown look , rocky mid top. Good.
Nose: fresh ,clean woody feel, touch or roast with coffee.
Flavor/Palate : dry, roasty , bit dry smoke. Clean feel, well brewed ale. Touch of brown malt. Refreshing.

Nov 1, 2009 Cask Days 2009 @ Bar Volo, Toronto, ON: Pours dark, dark brown with no head to find. Aroma is almost all coffee grounds, some mild chocolate. Taste is heavy with coffee, a little roasty. Lacking in malt and a bit of a one-trick pony on the omnipresent coffee, but a good effort.

Nov 1, 2009 2009 Volo Cask Days. Clear winner of the fest to me. Thick mouthfeel, a lot of coffee. Almost an imperial stout, with clear coffee roast nose, black colour without much head. Cocoa is in the secondary. Satisfying. I am not a coffee drinker, however this worked for what it is.

Aug 22, 2009 [2439-20090813] Cask. Sweet roasted coffee beans aroma is like the beans have been resting on a wet plank of wood for a day or two. Hazy, dark brown black body with not head. Heavy coffee roast flavour has a lot of coffee and wood and a long sweet aftertaste. Medium body. Seems a little young and under-carbonated again due to the cask, but still pretty awesome as it is.
