Bottle. Golden orange with good head retention. Aroma of pine, orange, grapefruit, wildflowers. Medium bodied. Bitter in the flavour with sweet citrus immediately after, especially fresh pulpy orange juice then pine and light bitterness. Finish is bitter and medium in length.

Project X. Very muddy pour (corrected on subsequent pours) pale yellow and a tight head. The aroma is softlymhoppy and fresh with some bright citrus and a bit of lemon peel as well. Softly bready with some nice fruitiness to the hops. Assertively bitter, especially as it starts to warm up. Simcoe and Amarillo seem to make an appearance. Awesome stuff.

This beer is awesome! My favourite beer from GLB. The brewers there are trying a lot of cool things!

Sampled at the IPA Challenge, Volo 2010. Pours a slightly opaque brown with small white head. Hops taste in the citrus range. Slight peppery spice. Finish is bitter but not overly pleasing. Decent.

Blind @ Volo’s DIPA tasting, 2010. Quite cloudy light orange body. Nose is kinda unfermented wort & amarillo pellets before they’re boiled. Its like Citrus fruitloops. Odd. Flavor is malt, a bit of bitterness, some hop but that is kinda washed out. Alcohol & grainy malt become apparent in the finish.

Cask at April Project X event at brewery. Pours a cloudy orangey brown with small white head. Fresh citrusy hops with some pepper spiciness. Taste has big citrus hops but rather harsh and spicy. Wasn’t wild about this one.

Bottle from brewery; Pours a clouded orange amber in the glass. Puffy off-white cap sustains and laces well. Soft natural carbonation. Typical DIPA aromas; toffee-caramel under grapefruit-orang citrus peel, some mustiness and light fusel. Average bodied, rocky mouth feel. Big caramalt in front amply balanced with citrus bittering...long wet finish continues to grow more citrusy. Good balance, flavorful but 2 dimensional...needed time to develop a bit of complexity. Good sturdy offering.

Cask at Rhino. Pours a hazy copper-orange with a spare diminishing white head. Nice resiny hop aroma along with some tropical fruit. Flavour tastes more like an IPA then a DIPA but it’s still good, plenty of slightly spicy hops and a good bitter finish. Alcohol’s well hidden. Medium bodied. A very good beer.

Enjoyed on cask at The Rhino, after missing it at another stop on the cas pub crawl weekend. A melange of tasty hops including magnum, colombus, cascade and amarillo. Some head on dark grapefuit. Moderate hop aromas, quite drinkabl and interesting. Middle plus mouthfeel, creamy even. A real winner, the IBU is there and it does not destroy the palate.
