3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
650 mL bottle. Reddish orange with almost no head. Aroma is malty and spicy - caramel and allspice(?) seem to predominate. The flavour is very spicy; definitely some cinnamon and nutmeg in there. More like pumpkin pie beer than pumpkin beer. Quite sweet. Slightly bitter at the finish. Average carbonation. Interesting.

Pours amber. Surprisingly sweet and spicy pumpkin aroma. Flavour of spicy pumpkin and some hops -- spices include nutmeg, clove and cinnamon. Very tasty. Short , slightly dry hop (and pumpkin) finish.

650 ml bottle. pours dark orange with an average off white head. aromas of spice, hops and detectable pumpkin funk. flavours are good without complexity but its a little to thin. a nice seasonal ale but nothing overwhelming.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draught at The Rhino - came an amber shade with a white head. Aroma of caramel, pumpkin spice, sweet malt, sort of candy-like actually. Body is soft and delicate. Flavour is sweet with malt and caramel, balanced well by the spices (pumpkin, cloves, nutmeg, some cinnamon). Not as spice heavy as some American pumpkin ales sampled. This one is lighter - very sessionable in fact. The best of Great Lakes seasonal offerings so far.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: SEP 29, 2008 650 ml bottle - pours a clear amber, actually quite similar to the Orange Peel Ale, with a good sized white head that lingers for awhile and leaves some nice lace. Soft aromas of spice and and a caramel malt undertone. The flavours are herbal, earthy and spices like nutmeg and clove. There’s a really nice biscuity quality in there as well. Delicate carbonation. This is a subtle, beautifully balanced pumpkin ale, and perfect for the season. I bought four bottles of this at the LCBO today, and I think I may be going back for more....This is Great Lakes best seasonal yet, and each one seems to get a bit better.....good job guys. Also, loooove the bottle.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draught sample at C’est What’s 2007 Fall Festival of Craft Breweries. Light, clear amber with a pure white head. Aroma is great - sweet malt, pumpkin, and a good balance of spice. Body is a touch thin, but not bad. Flavour follows the aroma - nice spice notes (cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, cloves) and some caramel malts, a hint of pumpkin, and enough hops in the finish to tie it together. Nicely done.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Had a draft at the brewery but this rating is from a fresh bottle sample.
Poured a bright orange-amber with a 1 finger white cap...does not last long but makes a surface lace that laces the glass well enough.
Wonderful nose: pumpkin pie spices with toffee malts and some botanical mustiness ( the pumpkin)
Good mouth feel, silky and ample.
Big caramel malts in the front start to go sweet but the spice- hop astringence rushes in to balance very well, lovely spicy, malty lightly sweet middle with a sharp clean finish and light spice and bread after taste.
Well carried off Pumpkin ale....rich and satisfying but smooth and drinkable...best of the seasonals from this Brewer so far

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draught. A clearish light orange body with a small white covering. The aroma has some light citric accents along with kind of cinnamon/peppery pumpkin bread.
Creamy sweet malt flavour, light pumpkin esque spices. Brackish bread and caramel flavour is also found throughout.
Not too bad, not spectacular either though.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draught. At C’est What Beer thing September 2007. Clear amber with a wispy white head. Decent real pumpkin and pumpkin pie spice aroma, much better than the Grand River offering sampled at the same time (7+). Tangy, spicy pumpkin flavour, perhaps a bit lacking in malt body. Watery body, but nice life and spiciness on the palate, with a tingly finish to it - decent beer, a little too light.

This is fucking delicious. A pint enjoyed at Volo was superbly spicy and smooth with a neat fruity kick of punpkin flavor that compliments the spiciness. Exactly the kind of quality experimentation I encourage Ontario brewmasters to venture towards.
