COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In our pursuit to bring you the most flavourful and unique beers possible, we are proud to release this tasty autumn ale. Handcrafted with an assortment of specialty malts and hops, we added a generous amount of pumpkin directly into the brew. Combine this with hints of cinnamon, clove, nutmeg and allspice, and youíve got a beer that you wonít soon forget. Rich, satisfying and slightly spicy, our seasonal ale goes perfectly with your favourite dessert or traditional feast. But like fall, Pumpkin Ale comes but once a year!

I was more impressed with St. Ambroiseís take on the pumpkin ale, but if you are a fan of the style this one shouldnít let you down. Itís easy to drink and not as íspicyí as I expected it, but itís easily recognizable as an autumn pumpkin brew.

Very hazy orange pour. Light head. Spicy cinnamon pumpkin scent, pretty much as expected. Like sticking your nose over a cold pumpkin pie. I say cold as a hot pie would fill the room with scent and this beer does not do that. Interesting mouth. All that was in the nose is in the mouth. Much more pumpkin and spice then beer which Iím sure will turn some people off. I canít quite decide myself. While the taste is rather nice itís odd. Synthetic maybe? The only other Pumpkin Ale I have had was from McAuslin (sp?) I definitely prefer that. This is good but not as good.

650mL bottle from LCBO. Nice clear orange colour. Pumpkin and spice aroma. Taste is very spicy, with a little pumpkin. Feels a little bit "thin" - not the mouthful youíd expect from a pumpkin beer. Still, quite nice.

Pale amber pour with a thick, tight laced white head. The aroma is lovely. Softly spicy with a mixture of nutmeg and allspice (fairly different from other brewers who tend to go with more cinnamon) and a little bit of light black pepper as well. Moderate palate with a nice touch of light sweetness and a bit of soft pumpkin character through the middle. Itís a pretty tasty autumnal ale.

Bomber purchased at the LCBO in Dundas. Pours a very light copper orange with a nice fluffy white head. Aroma is spicy and of pumpkin and something else, nutmeg possibly. Taste is spicy and of pumpkin, hop bitter. Quite light in the mouth feel. There is an after taste that I find with all Great Lakes Brewing brews that is very tart. Almost mouth puckering.

Bottle from Niagara-on-the-Lake. It was okay overall. The alcohol was a little noticeable for "only" 5.5ABV. Seemed like a fairly benign base beer with a hint of pumpkin and spice tossed in the mix. Fine I suppose but there are better pumpkin-specific beers out there.

Not what I was expecting, but not that itís bad either. Tastes like a pretty standard beer, some hops up front I guess, maybe a bit of a wheat beer presence as well. Pumpkin very light, have to strain to find it. I kind of like that it isnít a big syrupy sweet pumpkin like some, but this one is just too much on the opposite (light) spectrum. Not terrible, just not great.

2011 Vintage, from LCBO. pours a slightly cloudy light amber colour with a thin head. Aroma wise i think iím getting some of the cinnamon and cloves. Tastes kinda like a wheat beer IMO, nothing wrong with that but tbh i was expecting something a little different that claims to have a "generous amount of pumpkin" added as well as the associated spices. Tasty beer but not a stand out. The hunt for some great pumpkin ale continues!

Appearance: Transparent orange, frothy beige head. Aroma: Spice, cloves, strong smell of pumpkin, hops. Palate: Smooth, medium body, bit of a bite at the end. Taste: Sweet, slightly bitter. Taste is about what I expect from a Great Lakes - tastes like standard beer, with very subtle hints of the proclaimed flavour. I have to strain to taste the pumpkin in this, even though I can smell it. Nothing really special, though itís quite drinkable.
