COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hints of caramel, nuts and toasted malt result in a fully flavoured, yet deceptively smooth lager. A well balanced body makes it a perfect year-round beer. Red Leaf is an ideal match with burgers, rubs, sandwiches and stews.

Bottle - reminds me of Ricards Red. Not great but not bad either. The aroma wasn’t offensive. Sweet aftertaste

Red copper lager with a collapsing off white head. Aroma of sweet wet dough. In mouth, sweet fruity malt, with notes of phenolics, and very thin bodied, short in mouth. Not bad, just plain and boring.

I really liked that beer. Interesting aroma with traces of wood. Better than Rickard’s Red. Amber colour. Drinked in bottle.

bottle. deep copper body with a small, white, creamy head. I’m getting nothing off the aroma. maybe some mild soapy detergent...sweet cookie and bready flavour. sweet finish. sub-par.

Deep red amber clear pour with a short creamy white head. Sweet apple and wood aroma with traces of peat moss. Looks alright but very plain. Sweet grapes and apple. Not much hop. A little earth and ..... nope nothing else. Lots of carbonation though. Bleh.

Sampled at Beer Bistro Golden Tap Awards. Red body, small white head. Sweet dark lager taste, thin and uninspiring, but pretty darn drinkable. Not for the first time at this little well run fest, I was pleasantly surprised - some of these "average" rated Ontario micro’s do taste better from a fresh keg for sure.

Cheap alternative to Rickards Red on tap. Not much going on, it has more flavour than a normal lager and a much nicer colour, but still fairly bland.

Bottle- Pours a dark amber colour with just a hint of rouge in it. Not as red as I would have thought. head is frothy, and off white. Aroma is sour, minimal hops. Taste is slightly sour, earthy, with some malt hints. Watery on the finish. Decent enough to drink again.

UPDATED: MAY 1, 2006 Pretty decent. Very red looking with a normal amber ale flavour. A little thin on the palate side
Earlier Rating: 6/20/2004 Total Score: 2.2
