Hazy/murky yellow body with a white creamy head. Aroma has some coriander, spruce needles, and fresh lemon citrusy notes.
The palate is refreshing and bitter. Plenty of pine, citrus twang, and sweet biscuity malts. Well spiced and surprisingly balanced.
I’m surprised by how drinkable this is. Top notch.
Half pint at the C’est What 20th Anniversary.
GregClow (2275), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Nov 25, 2007 Draught sample at Canadian Brewing Awards 2007. Hazy yellow with a small head. Very interesting aroma - definitely some sage and other herbal notes, a bit perfumey/soapy, and a hint of spruce and yeast. Low carbonation. Flavour is lemony and herbal, with spruce in the finish, and a lingering yeastiness. If they upped the carbonation a bit, this would be a fantastic beer, although I’d be more inclined to drink it in the summer than the winter, personally. tupalev (2261), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Nov 24, 2007 Draft, Canadian Brewing Awards 07. Medium yellow, small white head. Nice refreshing herbal/spice aroma - spruce, lemon, yeast. Good taste - lemon and spruce, lots of herbs and grass and yeast. So refreshing, what an outstanding thirst quencher - if it was not for the overpriced $2 samples I would have drank pints of this all night! Nice job Great Lakes, thanks for the treat!
