37steel (186), St. Charles, Illinois, USA Sep 29, 2007 Bottle. Amber with a white head. Bright citrusy aroma. Sharp cascade bite with lingering bitterness. A little dark for an IPA but great, I love this beer. Kalli (474), Falun, Sweden Sep 27, 2007 Cascade through and through, I’d guess. Pleasant session beer and, to me, a very American tasting pale ale. Nothing spectacular, but quite nice. Petrucci914 (574), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Sep 22, 2007 Pours a sparkling amber. Aroma is of piney hops and toasted grains. Taste has a strong piney bitter taste and finishes with the toasted grains. Not balanced well enough for my tastes. Beerlando (2283), Orlando, Florida, USA Sep 21, 2007 Clear, brassy-amber body. Small white head settles to a negligible film with a tiny edge. Sudsy, spotty lacing clings to the glass. The aroma reveals a creamy, light caramel base with toasted grains, mild floral hops, and hints of white fruits in the background. The flavor is very toasty, with ample, dried floral and grassy hops. I also picked up some buttery, slightly burnt caramel on the tongue. Medium palate with a disappointing, slightly astringent, bitter finish. Creamy texture. Nice brew that starts off strong but drops off a bit towards the end. ucusty (1871), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA Sep 17, 2007 Updated: Nov 22, 2007wonderful well balanced IPA. Bottle courtesy of Dankman! Thick frothy head spotty lacing. piney aroma. nice clean hoppy flavor with a pleasant finish. I LOVE GREAT LAKES haukur (682), Reykjavik, Iceland Sep 15, 2007 Ahhh .. I love Cascade hops! That piney, yet citrusy taste is awesome. Well balanced IPA, the hops are not to excessive and it delivers a nice dry finish with a pleasant, lingering hop taste. Bottle from ruffian. shigadeyo (2210), Harrison, Ohio, USA Sep 13, 2007 9/12/2007: Great Lakes Burning River Pale Ale pours out a bright coppery color with a nice lasting beige head. The toffee maltiness and moderate citrus/pine bitterness are well-balanced and make for a very tasty, very easy to drink, and highly sessionable pale ale. Some might deisre a bit more bitterness (it wouldn’t necessarily be un-welcomed in this beer), but I really think this beer is wonderfully balanced as it is and can appeal to both Pale Ale and IPA drinkers. This is a great beer and one that I will never grow tired of drinking!
12 fl. oz. bottles at the Newtown Village Tavern. Thanks for buying the rounds Tom (Tmoney99). I really appreciate it! Rating #556 for this beer...
smaynard6000 (66), New Castle, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 11, 2007 Updated: Sep 27, 2007Bottle. Poured deep orangish yellow with a thin white head that didn’t stick around for long. Sharp bitter flavor reveals the citrusy hops. Not bad, but nothing special. A decent APA. I find it similar to Great Lakes Commodore Perry, but not quite as strong in either the flavor or alcohol content.
