A nice aroma of citrus and sweet malt. Has a pleasent slightly sweet smokey taste with a very smooth finish. A good beer to use when you want to sit and toss a few down. Intense hops without being one sided; much more appropriate use of malt than many others in the category. Full mouth feel also lends to the balanced feel. Yet another great beer from Ohio. The bonfire begins with a blaze of orange Coleman fuel and pallets. It simmers down as someone throws in some pennies. The smoke ebbs white, with curls of tannined cloud. Sweet pine aromas blast from the fire and an evening land breeze draws down a cool musk of the woods. Next to me, a Thai man begins to zest a box of Yuzu. It gets stronger. My companions add lemongrass and sweetgrass to the fire. I inhale and get a mouthful of the reeds and zest oils. I take a sip from my Margarita and retreat into heavenly bliss. Nuances of patchouli and juniper berries drift in from the hippie girls across the way. A saccharin bite of caramel leaves me thirsty. The night ends mellow.
<!-- p -->Overall, this is a darn decent India pale ale. It has those luscious Orange and Pine hop characters I love so much. Good hop content and balance with the level of pale malt. Entirely respectable. lowg (123), Scarborough, Ontario, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 29, 2006 Brother lives in Cleveland, my other brother visited him and return with some 12oz bottles of this. This one pours golden amber, with a small short-lived head that left a trace of lacing. Smelled of yeast and hops; what a beer should smell like. Flavour was mostly a strong bittering hop presence, bready malts came through but not quite enough for my liking - just a tad more would’ve done it. Beats most Canadian Ale’s by a long shot and is up there with the best of the Ontario Craft Ales. Thanks to both bros. for the score. fm928 (2), Ohio, USA does not count | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 29, 2006 Exceptional beer. Great hop taste, crisp, slight burned wheat flavor, citrusy, no yeast flavor. My favorite beer until I started trying good IPA’s. It is still better than most of them. tronraner (1909), Seymour, Tennessee, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 28, 2006 Bottle. Pours the color of brass with a thin white head. Aroma of citrus and floral hops and more malt than I was expecting. The flavor is crisp with resinous hops, but has some notes of bread as well. This would make a very good session beer.
