COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An assertively hopped American Pale Ale with citrusy and piney Cascade hops. Subtle malt flavors balance the hop profile and provide a satisfying dry finish.

I am biased to Great Lakes as a former resident of NE Ohio. But one beer I have really loved for a long time is the Burning River Ale. It is a light, hoppy Pale Ale that is very refreshing. The aroma is average but the appearance is a very nice golden color with a light to medium head. I have always liked the taste. It is moderate in body but the hops are crisp and defiining. The hops hit the palate and quickly disappears after you swallow. Overall it is on my top 10 list of Pale Ales.

Tap @ Great Lakes: Super clear caramel orange body with a small, gray tinted dollar tracing the top. Floral & citrus aroma with a solid toasted malt background. Grapefruit, toast, candied orange peel, & some faint herbal hops. Slightly sweet caramel in the back to balance the hops. Flavorful, not bad.

Canned vegetables, corn husks, and dandelion bouquet. Clear amber, medium head. Dandelion, honey, and hay, good intensity, but again with significant DMS present. Tinny as well. Hop forward and flavorful, but flawed.

Bottle. Pours a clear amber beer with a bright white head on top. Aroma is rather hoppy, grapefruit and some slight malts. Flavor is moderately bitter, touches of tropical fruits als slight herbal. Mellow carbonation, short aftertaste.

Look: pours a bright orange. White head. Thick lacing very clear. Smell: very sweet. Caramel. Orange. Honey. Apple juice. Taste: honey. Slight bitterness. Apple juice. Feel: thick film on the mouth. Medium carbonation. Overall: good beer. Not what I expected. Thought there would be more bitterness. First drank: home 1/1/15

In my expert opinion this is the best tasting great lakes beer. Only problem with the beer is it is brewed in Cleveland which is the trash can of America.

Partly my dislike is because I missed the part right on the label saying this is a pale ale. I bought it and poured it expecting porter. I’m not a pale ale fan. But, very hoppy, start to finish. Clear amber. Short lasting head. A good pale ale. A really bad porter #8{)

malty garbage.. this is the pale ale i really hate. just malty on the start and malty on the finish. really bitter finish. there are no pine, citrus notes in this one. pours copper in color with a thick white head. had a bottle pour at home.

amber color; piney, citrusy hop aroma with caramel and toasted malt notes; an excellent, well balanced, bitter pale ale with a citrusy, piney hop character on a bready malt base with caramel notes

Pours golden orange with a one finger white head with nice lacing. Aroma is of pine, citrus, floral hops, sweet malts, and some bready malts. Taste is similar to the aroma with the addition of some herbal and grassy hops. Has a medium body with a semi creamy mouthfeel with a semi dry, moderately bitter, medium-long finish. Overall, a tasty, drinkable, and hoppy pale ale.
