Amber in color- kinda cloudy, small, frothy head.
Nice smell: slightly bitter grapefruit- pretty hoppy.
As my tastebuds continue to evolve, and my liking of hoppy beers grows, I must say I enjoy this beer much more. Very hoppy, lots of hops all over- in the taste, in the aftertaste... everywhere. Reminds me a bit of some of the ESBs I've had.
Not the greatest beer from Great Lakes, but definitely a good one. Much better this time around than last.

It says subtle in the description but there’s really nothing subtle about the full bodied pine taste. A superb example of the style. Sweet Amber colouring with a lacey head. The aroma was bready and nicely malty. The beer arrived clear golden amber with a white well lasting head which laced the glass. The flavor was nicely bittered wth grapefruit and citrus and a caramel malt presence which had a grassy hop flavor. The finish was dry with lasting grassy and citrusy bittering and flavor into the afteraste. The body was medium with a nice level of cabonation and a creamy mouthfeel. A really great APA. Deeply malty and assertively hopped. Pint at Great Lakes. Dastrn (115), Warsaw, Indiana, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jan 17, 2008 A very good Pale Ale. Clear, crisp orange/amber color, thinnish head which is not-quite-white. The aroma is that of sweet citrus (orange/grapefruit, maybe) and a hint of malt. Finishes with the right sweet/bitter balance (the bitter lingers a bit longer).
All in all, a good go-to IPA if its readily available in your area. jwager (10), Cary, Illinois, USA

It has the same fresh flavor that comes in a good ale but I don’t think it tastes like a typical IPA. Not quite as much hoppy flavor as some IPA’s, instead more of a balance between the malt and hops. Overall very good beer. beerinmarch (2829), Washington, USA

Very nice sweet hop aroma, citrusy, but with a good dose of malt. Taste starts with a nice malt character, slightly sweet with a quick toffee hint, then this finishes off with a great hop balanced finish. Nice citrus flavors in the finish. This is a really nice brew, well suited for any occasion.
