AndyReynolds (71), Wilder, Kentucky, USA Sep 17, 2008 Poured a hazy light orange. Aroma was piney hopes and grass with a hint of citrus. The taste was what I would expect from an IPA. It was very balanced with a crisp bitter finish. This is a good beer which surprised me from Great Lakes. Most of what I have tried from them has been a disappointment. Thanks ewestern for the suggestion.
patrick767 (1586), fort wayne, Indiana, USA Jan 4, 2009 bottle - Pours copper with a one finger head and an aroma of caramel malt and citrus hops. The moderately bitter flavor has good grapefruit notes and a nice malt balance. IPA, huh? I thought it was an American Pale. It’s good either way, but the flavor profile had me thinking really good APA. HonkeyBra (614), Lemont, Illinois, USA Dec 31, 2008 Updated: Jan 2, 2009Yeah, this has much the same malt profile as all other great lakes beers. Hop flavor is pretty nice, but not too bitter. Flavor is very well-balanced for a pale. Its alright, though doesn’t knock your socks off. dagimp (6), , Pennsylvania, USA does not count Dec 26, 2008 On tap and in bottle. Pours a orangish red color. Smell is of grapefruit and orange. Taste is fairly, but not very hoppy balanced with smooth malt and citrus like the aroma. No bitter aftertaste and no alcohol taste. This is one, if not my favorite beer of all time. It is perfectly hopped without being bitter nor bland. It is a must have for those liking IPAs. You will not be disappointed. TKA300 (34), , Illinois, USA Dec 26, 2008 Poured a light amber color with a very small head. Smelled a lot like citrus and hops. Tasted really bitter but with a small, underlying balance of malt. A very good beer. ilherps (108), Carbondale, Illinois, USA Dec 25, 2008 Pours light gold with a thin head. Aroma of citrus, pine, and fresh hops. Flavors of grapefruit, dry grassyness, and a nice bitter hop finish, but with a slight but noticable caramel malt. Excellent!
