Draft. I live in the Cleveland area so i try it every year. It seems to get worse every year. Copper brown color with a white head. Dark fruit and cinnamon in the nose as you’d expect from a Christmas beer. Faint cinnamon and dark dried fruit taste as well. This used to be a big, bright strong beer but every year , the price goes up and the taste goes down. I miss the old days.

12 oz bottle. Pours copper with a small white head that doesn’t leave much lacing. Aroma of cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, brown sugar and clove. Taste is pretty much the same as the aroma except the ginger is a bit more prominent. Long and slightly bitter finish of cinnamon, clove and malts with a bit of a warming alcohol burn going down. Medium bodied, thin texture, high carbonation. Definitely hides the higher alcohol well. Very tasty without being overly spiced or too heavy.

Pours a beautiful copper color with a small wispy head. Slight hops with a background of clove, cinnamon, brown sugar and slight pine. Great balance. 7.5% alcohol sits in the background. A nice Christmas beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12oz bottle into tulip. Minneapolis. Appearance: copper/amber in color. Transparent. Very little head. Aroma: sweet with Christmas spices. Nutmeg and ginger. Taste: sweet with a slightly bitter finish. Palate: medium body. Thin texture. Overall: a very nice base beer with holiday top notes. Not really interesting, but good quality.

Received in trade, it pours a semi-light brown and leaves the same colored body in the glass, for the most part, its very transparent indicating a good amount of visible carbonation rising with a one finger white foamy head that dies at a decent pace while the head up ends concavely to a nice speckled look of lacing gracing the sides of the glass; the aroma has a nice Christmas colored spice (ie, ginger, cinnamon, caramel; the taste is spicy and sweet at the same time, a slight warming comes in with an added sort of hoppiness to balance, its pretty easy on the palate, and overall, holy cow - from East Coast to West Coast, this quite possibly be Great Lakes’ best for style and just being a stellar beer, Of course I would have again. As far as palate goes, wow, feels great along the tongue and month. Overall, hey what a great Winter ale, good job.

On tap a very clear dark amber with modest head/ Looks really nice. Taste is winter spice cinnamon and light citrus clean and refreshing. A cut above most Christmas beers.

Dark orange copper. Thin head, some lace. Clear. Vegetabley aroma with old smelling spice. Clove like nutmeg, not really getting the cinnamon, more of a weird spice- B vitamins possibly. Taste is rich malt but a stronger clovey vegetabley taste to it. Weird odd spice flavor to it, may be my first disapointment with great lakes. Its ok with and odd flavor to it though like old hops but is probably just from the spice. Good body and malt backbone. Thumbs down to overall taste but does have a nice malt/carmel underneath the strong bad flavors.
